Introduction to Shima Seiki and SES
Computer Knitting in V-bed machine Introduction to Shima Seiki and SES-ONE System Knitting programming and machine control data in Shima Seiki are based on COLOR NUMBER. All the programming is done on a graphic workstation using a series of COLOUR NUMBER and OPTION LINE (machine control data). Unlike the SINTRAL language uses in STOLL system, Shima Seiki does not require any command or programming. Knitting structure likes the plain, 1X1 rib, cable stitch, purl stitch are all represented by different colour number. Using the combination of different colour number (different knitting structure), together with Option line, many different structures can be programmed on Shima System. The CAD/CAM development process in Shima Seiki can be grouped into FIVE processes (Knit-CAD process) and they are : 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Control DATA Pattern Data Pattern Development Data Yarn Carrier Data Economizer Data The Control DATA is to select what kind of knitting machine you would use and in what gauge. In addition, you have to specific if you are making a shaped garment or not. The Pattern Data is produced from your CAD drawing based on different colour number. It can be a jacquard design, cable design, intarsia design, mesh pattern or a combination of all of them. The Pattern Development Data is modified the basic design to form a new pattern (says mirror image, diagonal design, biased design). It also controls the repeat width and repeat height of the pattern The yarn carrier data control the yarn change (colour change), yarn position (for intarsia and shaped pattern) during the knitting process. The economizer data works with pattern development data to control the pattern height and width of the fabric. Example On Shima Colour Number for Knitted Structure All these knitting structures in Shima Seiki are controlled by COLOUR NUMBER Can you suggest what colour number should be used in above knitting structure ? Example on SHIMA Colour Code Notes : Shima Colour Code Colour Number is used to produce different knitting structure • For example Colour Number 1 is for plain knit face stitch (with transfer) • Colour Number 2 is for plain knit back stitch (with transfer) • Colour Number 3 is for 1X1 rib • Colour Number 11 is making tuck stitch on front and • Colour Number 12 is making tuck stitch at the back. Notes : SHIMA OPTION LINE Option line, is to control the repeat of the pattern, how many knitting system, yarn carrier position and stitch length control. For example • Option Line R1 is to control inner economizer (the pattern height of your design) • Option Line R2 is to control the outer econimizer • Option Line R3 is to control the yarn carrier change • Option Line R6 is to control the stitch value of the fabric
