Why? Because of its combination of light weight, incredible horsepower and impeccable handling. Dominating race tracks in US and AUS helps too… A blend of forged, extruded and cast aluminium makes up the controlled flex chassis that allows us to dial in the exact level of feedback demanded by our testers. To this we fit a reverse fed cylinder that allows fresh air to enter high up from the front - away from dirt and dust - and travel straight through the four-valve combustion chamber. A flow of pure logic that works so well you’d think everyone would be onto it. New settings for 2015 have boosted mid-range power. The new model is also easier to start and has a lighter throttle action. YAMAHA YZ RANGE Class leading KYB suspension and slim ergos with sumblimated graphics - no more peeling decals complement the lightest bike in the 250F class. Raw power, light weight and nimble handling combine to raise the level to a new quarter litre benchmark. yamaha-motor.com.au SpecCheck YZ450F YZ250F 499.7cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valves, rear ward slanting single cylinder Engine Type 250cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valves, rear ward slanting single cylinder Engine Type Frame Flex tuned aluminium bilateral beam, semi-cradle Frame Flex tuned aluminium bilateral beam, semi-cradle Front Suspension KYB 48mm USD, speed sensitive, twin chamber, fully adjustable, 300 mm travel Front Suspension KYB 48mm USD, speed sensitive, twin chamber, fully adjustable, 310 mm travel Front Suspension KYB 48mm USD, speed sensitive, twin chamber, fully adjustable, 310 mm travel Caster/Trail 27°25 / 122 mm Caster/Trail 26°50 / 118 mm L x W x H 2180 x 825 x 1280 mm L x W x H 2170 x 825 x 1280 mm Seat Height 965 mm Seat Height 965 mm Wheel Base 1480 mm Wheel Base 1475 mm Ground Clearance 330 mm (minimum) Dry weight 105 kg Dry weight 99 kg Wet weight 111 kg (full oil and fuel tank) Wet weight 105 kg (full oil and fuel tank) Front Suspension KYB 48mm USD, speed sensitive, twin chamber, fully adjustable, 310 mm travel Caster/Trail 26° / 109 mm L x W x H 2137 x 827 x 1295 mm Seat Height 973 mm Wheel Base 1443 mm Ground Clearance 363 mm (minimum) YZ250 Pack Some Heat Rear, fully adjustable KYB shock features a super-light shock spring and reduced friction Kashima coating of internals. And there’s no better weapon to achieve this than Yamaha’s 85cc liquid-cooled, crankcase reed-valve-inducted, two-stroke. Enhanced styling with new plastics match the new race kits offered in Australia which include a GYTR shorty aluminium muffler’ V-Force 3 carbon reed valve kit, GYTR 53T aluminium sprocket, aluminium adjustable top triple clamps and alloy tapered bars all worth $750. Once again, Yamaha Motor Australia offers this model with a race kit as standard, based on input from our successful GYTR Junior Development Team. The 125 kit features a GYTR oversize front brake rotor and caliper bracket, launch master system, GYTR shorty muffler, a V Force 3 reed block, GYTR 50T aluminium sprocket and Yamalube start up pack all worth $940. For Australia, we add $850 worth of race kit including a GYTR oversize front brake, launch master system, 51T alu sprocket and Yamalube start up pack. Smooth-shifting, six-speed close ratio transmission with heavy-duty, multiplate clutch delivers maximum hookup for outstanding acceleration 88 kg 26° / 109 mm For 2015, our engineers have improved intake efficiency as well as intake/ exhaust port timing to give even more of that seamless throttle response across the powerband. The reed valve induced two-stroke gets the same 2015 updates as its bigger brother, the main benefit being plush KYB speed sensitive suspension that makes molehills out of mountains. All new modern, aggressive styling includes new plastics and air box as well as minor technical changes like wider foot pegs and new Dunlop MX52 tyres. Liquid-cooled, 85cc crankcase reed-valve inducted six-speed delivers hardhitting, moto-winning power throughout the RPM range. No more mister nice guy - the latest two-stroke and four-strokes are asking others to step outside into the car park… with increasingly positive results. 4 US and Australian media are voting unanimously in favour of the blue bikes. And riders are dominating the race scene - whether it’s MX, enduro, off road, extreme enduro or desert racing. The reason is technical yet simple. Yamaha builds the best performing and most reliable dirt bikes available. The combination of a lightweight aluminium chassis suspended by KYB speed sensitive twin chamber forks, powered by a class leading holeshot motor that goes the distance is hard to beat. The YZ advantage is tangible. Step outside and breathe in a YZ. That’s the scent of victory. 3 Y Z12 5 in t eam y am ah a blue & w hit e YZ450F Follow the Leader No more excuses. With the YZ450F you’re either riding one or you’re following one. The latest model is a fresh development of the original reverse fed engine concept. It uses the same compact and lightweight chassis as our hugely popular race winning YZ250F. Super powerful motor meets compact chassis - that’s the holy grail of motorcycling covered off then. No wonder the 450F is so popular - and versatile. Here’s a motorcycle that is equally at home at the pointy end of the Dakar Rally as it is on extreme enduro trails… or the 2013 ISDE where Dan Milner rode one to an incredible second outright place on debut. Like its smaller brother, the 450F recently underwent a severe mass centralisation program for ultimate balance and is fitted with all the equipment to get the job done. Plus the 2015 model gets even more controllable mumbo thanks to revised power delivery settings and a lighter throttle action. And new engine mountings offer more rider feedback and the whole machine produces bulk traction minimal wheelspin and added contollability. All of which makes the YZ450F a leader among motorcycles. Choose to either follow one or race one. A new layout for the fuel tank and air cleaner box gives the machine a slimmer feeling between the legs as well as position’s the fuel tank mass closer to the centre of the bike which improves handling feel. Furthermore, the air box can now be accessed with quick release fastners for easy serviceability of the large air cleaner element. 1 YZ450F’s revolutionary rearward-slanted-cylinder design is an innovative approach to achieve unmatched mass centralisation. Concentrating the motorcycle’s heaviest components (engine mass, fuel tank, exhaust system, and airbox) toward the centre of the machine helps achieve superior, nimble handling. 2 The lightweight aluminium Bilateral Beam frame offers a superb rigidity balance and, with new settings to already class leading front and rear suspension, provides unmatched lightweight handling and cornering. The steering head pipe is moved 10mm closer to the rider, making for a more compact chassis dimension and placing more weight bias on the front wheel which translates to an even more precise and instinctive handling character. 3 The exhaust pipe has an innovative layout, circling the cylinder, giving the exhaust pipe proper length for an excellent exhaust-pulse effect. At the same time, the exhaust pipe has three different diameters throughout the exhaust tract, bringing out excellent power characteristics. This new layout allows the silencer to be positioned further forward behind the side panel closer to the middle of the bike which centralises the mass for superior handling. 4 2015 YAMAHA YZ RANGE LIT-YZALL-15
