2nd Annual Husson “Research and Scholarship Day” Features
Presentations by Pharmacy Students and Faculty
The importance of research and scholarship to
the Husson community was evident in the four oral
presentations and 38 poster presentations exhibited at
the 2nd Annual Husson Research and Scholarship Day
held on April 28th. Eight of the 38 poster presentations were co-authored by HUSOP faculty and pharmacy students. Dr. Shuhua Bai, Assistant Professor of
Pharmaceutics, was named the 2011 Husson University Researcher of the Year. Examples of pharmacy

Dr. Shuhua Bai received a $69,000 research grant from the Maine Cancer Foundation for a project entitled “Targeted
SiRNA Inhibition of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors in Lung Cancer Cells”
Dr. Aaron Domina was selected by the pharmacy students as “P1 Teacher of the Year”
Dr. Roger Phipps was selected by the pharmacy students as “P2 Teacher of the Year”
Mary Beatham (P2) was HUSOP’s representative to the APhA/ASP National Patient Counseling Competition, March
25-29 in Seattle, WA
