Why a Therapeutic Recreation Center?
Since 2004, NISRA has gained 4 new member districts,
creating a need for additional programs and places to
hold them. A few notable statistics:
• Program participation jumped 59% from 2005-2010
• Nearly 8,000 registrations were received in 2009-2010
• 750 programs provided annually for over 1,600 individuals
NISRA relies 100% on our member districts & other
community facilities for activity space. NISRA Staff
have identified the need for more space including
kitchens, and art & music rooms for our popular
cultural art offerings. The Sage Therapeutic Recreation
Center will allow us to have guaranteed space for
socially & culturally enriching programs for children,
teens and adults with disabilities.
We are still committed to providing services
throughout our 13 member districts, yet we’re also
excited to soon have some unique activity rooms right
here at 285 Memorial Drive!
