Remove the plug from the connector and plug in the jumper harness if required. (Figure 5A). b) Mount the valve with the exhaust down on the bottom left side of the radiator using the existing bolt near the A/C Service Port. Use the provided bolt to install the air solenoid (Figure 5A). Note: The jumper harness may be longer than needed bunch and wire tie this together. c) Locate air manifold on the left side of the vehicle near the back of the engine and above the frame rail. Note: Make sure the air is removed from the vehicle by opening the tank drain or pumping the brakes. d) Remove existing Schrader valve (Figure 5C) and replace with ¼” compression fitting and route air line to the in-port (Top) of the air solenoid. e) Next, route a new air line from the side of the air solenoid to the Horton DM Advantage Two-Speed fan drive. Keep the air solenoid wire lead and airline near the A/C tube by tie straping them to it (Figure 5B). Use conduit to protect the air line and route to prevent damage from heat, rubbing or moving components on the engine and secure with tie straps. Figure 5A Figure 5B Figure 5C Reprogram ECU Reprogram ECU by calling the Volvo/Mack Technical Line at 1-800-888-2039. This must be completed at a Volvo/Mack dealer so that they can download the software from the Volvo/Mack technical group through a laptop that is connected to the vehicle. You will need to provide the following information: a) Last six digits of the VIN. b) Tell them what you are converting (i.e. HDMS, Behr or BW E -viscous) fan drive to an on/off (Note: The DM Advantage Two-Speed is controlled the same as an on/off). c) MRU/LEU Terra Pro (reference) US07 change field 262 to 20991507 in VDA. d) US10 change field 262 to 21382241 in VDA. e) Provide the fan blade diameter and drive ratio f) The Volvo technical group will update the program and send this to the laptop, updating the ECU. Run the truck to build air pressure. Once you have at least 90 psi of air pressure, test the operation of the fan drive by unplugging the air solenoid valve. (WARNING: stay clear of the fan blade to prevent injury). g) 5 DM Advantage® Two-Speed Retrofit Instruction for 2007 – 2012 Volvo and Mack Applications Retrofit BorgWarner Cool Logic (HDMS), Behr and BorgWarner E‐Viscous Fan Drives Mack 2007–2012 Trucks Repair Solution First-fit Fan Drive Configurations • OE fan drives are either BorgWarner Cool Logic™ (HDMS) or Behr Visco® • Strike-through indicates fan clutch part numbers that have been superseded • Older trucks might still be fitted with superseded fan clutches Reman Horton Fan Drive + New Fan + Retrofit Kit • DM Advantage Two-Speed Fan Drive requires a new fan • Retrofit installation kit part # 995604 and ECM reprogramming needed • Blue indicates fan clutch lockup feature is included Truck Model Engine Make and Model Mack OE Part # for BorgWarner Cool Logic Fan Clutch Mack OE Part # for Behr Visco Fan Clutch Replacement Fan Clutch: Mack Part # (Horton Part #) Replacement Fan: Mack Part # (Horton Part #) CHU613 Mack MP8 21210851 21508307 21925095 85115603 21788110 (79A8107) 3912- 79A8184 (79A8184) 3912-996750252 (996750252) CXU Mack MP7 21210839 21508295 21925081 85115602 21622798 (79A9797) 3912-79A9643-2 (79A9643-2) 3912-996813253 (996813253) CXU Mack MP8 21210845 21508301 21925087 21251045 21596045 (79A9552-2) 3912-79A9644-2 (79A9644-2) 3912-996813252 (996813252) GU7 Mack MP7 21210843 21508299 21925085 21251049 21772286 (79A8104) 3912-79A8181 (79A8181) 3912-996711253 (996711253) GU7 (non FE PTO) Mack MP7 21210843 21508299 21925085 21251049 21772286 (79A8104) 3912-79A8181 (79A8181) 3912-996711253 (996711253) GU7 Mack MP8 40MH481M 21210849 21508305 85115604 21789464 (79A8106) 3912-79A8183 (79A8183) 3912-996711252 (996711252) GU8 (FE PTO) Mack MP7 21210843 21508299 21925085 21251049 21772286 (79A8104) 3912-79A8181 (79A8181) 3912-996711253 (996711253) GU8 (non FE PTO) Mack MP7 21210841 21508297 21925083 – 21978227 (79A8103) 3912-79A8180 (79A8180) 3912-996750253 (996750253) GU8 (non FE PTO) Mack MP8 21210851 21508307 21925095 85115603 21788110 (79A8107) 3912-79A8184 (79A8184) 3912-996750252 (996750252) GU8 (FE PTO) Mack MP8 40MH499M 21210847 21508303 21925089 21241049 21978240 (79A8105) 3912-79A8182 (79A8182) 3912-996711252 (996711252) MRU/LEU Mack MP7 – 85111561 21608880 (79A9788) 3912-79A8177 (79A8177) 3912-995635253-001 (995635253-001) Mack MP8 40MH499M 21210847 21508303 21925089 21251049 21978240 (79A8105) 3912-79A8182 (79A8182) 3912-996711252 (996711252) MRU 6 DM Advantage® Two-Speed Retrofit Instruction for 2007 – 2012 Volvo and Mack Applications Retrofit BorgWarner Cool Logic (HDMS), Behr and BorgWarner E‐Viscous Fan Drives Volvo 2007–2012 Trucks Repair Solution First-fit Fan Drive Configurations • OE fan drives are either BorgWarner Cool Logic™ (HDMS) or Behr Visco® • Strike-through indicates fan clutch part numbers that have been superseded • Older trucks might still be fitted with superseded fan clutches Truck Model Engine Make and Model Volvo OE Part # for BorgWarner Cool Logic Fan Clutch Volvo OE Part # for Behr Visco Fan Clutch VHD (FE PTO) Volvo D11 21210843 21508299 21925085 21251049 VHD (non FE PTO) Volvo D11 21508297 21925083 21241047 VNM/VNL Volvo D13 21508301 21925087 21251045 VNM/VNL Volvo D11 21925081 21251045 VHD (non FE PTO) Volvo D13 21210851 21508307 21925093 21251047 VHD (FE PTO) Volvo D13 21210847 21508303 21925089 21251049 VNL/VT Volvo D16 21508309 21925095 21254045 VNL/VT Cummins ISX 21508311 21925097 21254045 Reman Horton Fan Drive + New Fan + Retrofit Kit • DM Advantage Two-Speed Fan Drive requires a new fan • Retrofit installation kit part # 995604 and ECM reprogramming needed • Blue indicates fan clutch lockup feature is included Replacement Fan Clutch: Volvo Part # (Horton Part #) 21772286 (79A8104) 85139326 (79A8181) 21978227 (79A8103) 85139325 (79A8180) 21596045 (79A9552-2) 85139329 (79A9644-2) 21622798 (79A9797) 85139324 (79A9643-2) 21788110 (79A8107) 85139322 (79A8184) 21978240 (79A8105) 85139327 (79A8182) 21596051 (79A9554-2) 85139330 (79A9646-2) 21596013 (79A9553-2) 85139328 (79A9645-2) Replacement Fan: Horton Part # 85138167 (996711253) 85138171 (996750253) 85138170 (996813252) 85138170 (996813252) 85138166 (996750252) 85138168 (996711252) 85138170 (996813252) 85138169 (996813253) Viton is a trademark of DuPont Performance Elastomers.
