Enrolled Nurse - Health Careers in the Bush
Enrolled Nurse What is an Enrolled Nurse? Can Enrolled Nurses specialise? If you would like to be a nurse, but don’t want to go to university, your ideal career may be as an Enrolled Nurse. There is now an Advanced Diploma of Nursing. This qualification is part of the Health Training Package and it covers enrolled nursing work in areas of specialisation, with advanced skills and knowledge in client assessment, care and management across a wide range of health care settings. It is available through TAFE. Nurses are important members of the health care team and their primary role is providing patient care. Although both Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses care for the sick, injured or recovering patient, there is a distinct difference in the focus of their work. Enrolled Nurses work under the direction of Registered nurses and work within a multidisciplinary team to meet the client’s health care needs and maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times. Enrolled Nurses contribute to care planning and assist patients with everyday living activities and are vital members of the nursing team. This education will create career pathways within enrolled nursing in line with the specialist pathways accessible by Registered Nurses. For more information on specialties available, check out the Think Nursing website under Career Pathways: www. thinknursing.com What scholarships are available? What does an Enrolled Nurse do?
