May 2016 Bulletin
Important Updates from IACT Departments:
Administration: We would like to give a huge thanks to our Easter Weekend volunteers. The Easter Egg Hunt was a HUGE success with 99 kids hunting for
candy and prizes! We loved our Easter Bunnies Sherry Epps and Bonnie Limerick.
You all were too cute for words! In addition we would like to thank all funsteaders that volunteered their time and gave donations towards the Egg Hunts and
prizes. If you see the individuals around the acres make sure you give them a pat
on the back: Charlene & Jimmy Robey, Debbie Clatterbuck-Rose, Susan Hall-Hix,
T.W. Sheldon, Mary Smith, Joe & Laura Meyers, Jen Hurley, Tom Habrat, Jenna
Roger, Wanda Clatterbuck, Angela & Billy Stanton, Joyce Waggett, Janey Critchley, Chester & Patricia Waters, Rich & Melinda Sexton, Scott & Denise Taylor,
Kelly & Reggie Sojourner and many many others. Plus a big thanks to Glens 6
and 12 for putting on a super Easter Breakfast with the Bunny at the Clubhouse!
Wow! What a wonderful weekend. We cannot wait to do it again next year!
Security Continued… Finally, our Security Captain would like you to notice the new
flag located in front of the Guard Shack. This is the new Fire Safety Flag. Everyday an
officer will check with local officials for information on fire hazards. If the flag is RED, it
means NO BURNING, if the flag is YELLOW it means please use caution, if the flag is
GREEN, it means that it is ok to burn. Please visit the Virginia Department of Forestry
website at www,dof.virginia.gov to learn more or stop in to meet Captain Walters with
additional questions or to receive a pamphlet with additional fire laws and safety recommendations. We thank you for your cooperation with in these matters.
Security Captain Dean Walters would like to invite you all to attend the President’s Coffee
on May 22 in the Clubhouse. Our President Rich Sexton will be there along with Captain
Walters to answer questions and listen to your ideas. The Q&A starts at 12:00 pm. We
hope to see you there.
Recreation: Get excited for May! The Rec Center will be having an event every week-
Would like to ask that funsteaders not set out food for feral cats or other wild
animals. We are working with Animal Control to fix this issue. Also please refrain
from using plastic/paper containers outside for pets because this causes litter to
be spread throughout the campground. Thank you for your cooperation in this
matter.
end this month! Saturday, May 7th we will be having crafts and snacks for Mother's Day
and a Mother's Day dance at the clubhouse with music by DJ Rich. Saturday May, 14 will

Saturday, May 21st we will be having an Armed Forces Day dance at the clubhouse with
appetizers and music from the Lonesome Ryders Band. Tickets will be on sale for $10 at

Maintenance: It has been MANY years since our LOT #s on the Electrical
Risers were PAINTED. The PAINT has FADED leaving the #S illegible. It is OUR
responsibility, as owners, TO IDENTIFY OUR LOTS. PLEASE take the time to REPAINT your LOT # on the Electrical Riser.
We would also like to ask that property owners refrain from planting flowers,
shrubs/bushes or trees or placing lawn décor or ornaments near the electrical
risers and water access points on their property. Our Maintenance Staff as well
as PO River staff need to be able to get to your electrical boxes and water access
points to better help you. We appreciate your cooperation.
Security: **Please be advised** When passing through the Security Gate
please remember that ONLY 1 VEHICLE MAY PASS UNDER THE GATE AT A TIME.
This includes bikes and motor bikes. Please wait for the vehicle in front of you
too pass the arm and let the arm then descend. If you try to pass before the arm
falls you can be knocked off of your bike or motor scooter or even receive damage to your vehicle. Please be patient and wait for the arm to raise to avoid
injury or damage. Also, if you are taking anything with you off of IACT property,
you MUST STOP to the far right of the exit lane to be inspected by a Security

Glen 4– Meeting dates are as follows: April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17 and October 15.
Glen 5-- Spring has Sprung and things are really picking up around the neighborhood, it's nice to see so many new faces in our Glen. Please
give our new neighbors a warm Chippewa welcome. I would like to personally thank everybody who attended the first Glen meeting of the
season, the turnout was wonderful considering the weather that day and I feel like we really got the ball rolling for the 2016 camping season. I
would also like to thank everyone for their support especially to those taking the lead on some of the many projects we have set out to accomplish this year. As our Chippewa family grows so does our ability to improve our Glen and make it a better place for all of us.
I want to give a special thanks to everybody who came out on IACT Cleanup Day Saturday, April 23rd and helped clean up our common area, it looks fantastic and we couldn't have accomplished it without teamwork.
It has been brought to my attention that somebody has borrowed one of the shower curtains from our 5A bathhouse ladies room the
evening of April 23rd, I would like to ask them to return it. As you all may not be aware the shower curtains were donated by Glen 5 property
owners as well as the paper towels and soap; so please respect what others have personally given to make IACT a little more like home during visits. As we move forward working to make Glen 5 a better, we will not let these setbacks deter us from our goals. Together we can make
a big difference.
I encourage everybody to join our new Neighborhood Watch program www.nextdoor.com, if you have any questions regarding getting invited or setup to the neighborhood please contact me directly at [email protected].
We will be discussing the. Neighborhood Watch along with many other things at our next Glen meeting that will be held on May 14, 2016 at
2:00. For the newcomers in the neighborhood our Glen meetings are always held the second Saturday of every month April through September. Our meetings will always be held at the Glen 5A Pavilion unless there is inclement weather then they will be held at Trapp Farm if available. I look forward to seeing everybody at our next meeting and feel free to join our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/
iactchippewa/ or contact me Keith Wood @ 301-659-9452, [email protected] to be added to our mailing list.
Glen 6- Will be meeting on May 14th at Glen 6 Lot 261 at 5pm. We will be voting on a mascot change. Please come out with a dish to
share for our potluck dinner. Meetings for Glen 6 will be on every 2nd Saturday of the month during camping season.
Glen 12- We will have a meeting on Saturday, May 21st at 12:30 pm at Bathhouse B. Mark your calendars for the Glen 12 Poker Runs
of the Summer season scheduled for Saturday, June 18th and August 13th. Hope you plan to join us!
Glen 13- We have some great ideas for this year including Hillbilly Olympics, 4th of July activities and a bake sale. Look for updates soon!
Our Glen Meeting will be on May 21st at 2pm. Everyone please bring a dish for a potluck dinner.
Glen 17- Greetings Glen 17. Only 4 ventured the cold & wind to our first meeting with a new member. We’re getting ideas and figures
together for our pavilion/covering. We are also aware of the Circle entrance to 17 needing some urgent care. We are seeking volunteers for
repairs. We looked in to why 17B men’s side still has two backed up toilets and no heat after reporting it last fall. We also contacted PO River
as to clean up their back yard of material & debris which backs up to 17 funstead. We also had some trailers removed,. Hopefully more to
come. Hope to see you and hear your ideas at our next meeting May 14th at 2 pm. Sincerely, Glen 17 Chief Ron
