Aug. 20, Dana Point Lobster Beach Fest
Eat to your heart’s content at this event: gourmet appetizers,
a no-host bar, fresh East-coast lobster, smoked tri-tip steak, and
desserts. Enjoy live music, a DJ, dancing, and a Casino (new this
year). Proceeds go to charities including Make-A-Wish, Boys &
Girls Club, Dana Point 5th Marine Support Group and more.

Aug. 20, Splash-In Movie & Recreation Swim
Families, grab your swimsuits and pool floats and come on
down to the pool for a movie. Swim and float in the pool while
Lilo & Stitch plays on the big screen. Lifeguards will be on duty.

Aug. 27–28, Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo
Celebrate early California history and the American West at the
Rancho Mission Viejo, which is committed to the preservation of
the cowboy way of life. The top 30 contestants compete for cash
prizes on the road to the grand championship at the Nationals
Final Rodeo in Las Vegas. Competitions include saddle bronc,
bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding and
team roping. This is a show featuring the best of the best! To carry
on the cowboy tradition of “passing the hat” in support of a sick
child or friend in need, all proceeds from the rodeo will benefit
local charities.

Aug. 21, Plum Festival

Sample amazing barbecue from some of the nation’s best Pro BBQ
teams! This 3-day event, sponsored by American Family Housing
to raise money for homeless Veterans, features a Pro BBQ
competition, music festival, and car show. Entertainment includes a
Rib-Eating Contest, a Watermelon-Eating Contest, fun activities for
kids, beer and festival foods, and live music. Admission is free for
all Active Military Personnel and Armed Services Veterans.

Aug. 4, Renegade Summer 5 Mile Trail Run, Series #3

Aug. 14, San Clemente Fiesta Music Festival
Experience a full day of fun at this festival with food, contests,

Aug. 11, Gallery Tour: Richard Duardo,
Artist & Master Printmaker
Join curator Matt Leslie and Lisa Duardo, manager of Modern
Multiples and sister of the late artist Richard Duardo, for a special
look at our current Contemporary prints show. Duardo was known
as the “West Coast Warhol” for his often large-scale, colorful
prints of famous musicians and entertainers. This is a free event;
$5 donations are welcome.

Aug. 17, Free Concert in the Park:
The Moonlight Express
Join your friends and neighbors as the sounds of summer come
alive! Concert-goers can bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit
comfortably while the music plays. There is also an open swim
period offered at the adjacent Brea Plunge during the concert
performances. It’s a great diversion for active kids and the cost
to swim is only $2. This is a free event.
