Windsor Area Missile Silo Park: The former nuclear warhead equipped Atlas E site was constructed in 1961, deactivated in 1965 and turned over to Weld County. Area: A large portion of the Poudre River Trail winds through this area and is a great place for bird-‐watching Photo : Weld County Government Kaplan-‐Hoover Bison Bonebed: Discovered below a set of bluffs outside of Windsor, the remains of over 200 bison (dating to 860 BC) were excavated beginning in 1998. Jones Ditch: Built in 1867 to supply water for domestic use and irrigation. Poudre Learning Center: Premiere facility focusing on the history, science, economics, stewardship and aesthetics of the Poudre. History & More Along the River… Greeley Area Greeley #3 Ditch: First canal built by Union Colonists, a cooperative effort that provided water for domestic use and irrigated gardens in town. Greeley #2 Ditch: 2nd Ditch constructed by the Union Colonists in late 1870 – early 1871.
