Principal’s Report
Tarago District Athletics
Thank you very much to the teachers who have given up their lunch time to train children for the
District Athletics. Thank you Lawrence Phillips for your overall organisation of our Athletics day and
the District Athletics. It was great to hear how well our students performed and behaved at
yesterdays District Athletics. Congratulations on being such good sports.
Supervision
Please note that staff are on duty before school from 8.45am until 9.00am. After school duty
finishes at 3.30pm unless your child is booked in to after school care.
The school runs a before school care program if you need to drop your children at school prior to
8.45am.
Volunteers Required
Please support the school by volunteering for the DSPS Delivery service. We need your assistance.
An additional reminder note went home earlier this week. Please consider giving up a few hours to
assist with this event. While there is some work involved this is a good opportunity to get to know
other members of our school community. The organising committee is working hard to make this
event run smoothly. This will be my 10th Farm World and for some parents with a long association
with the school the years certainly creep up. Thank you to those who have already volunteered your
contribution is appreciated.
Farm World commences on Thursday 27th March and finishes on Sunday 30th March.
Contributions no matter how small are appreciated. If you aren’t available on the days there are
other options for your assistance such as making slices for the volunteers.
Landcare
On Tuesday the PFF catered for 100 people at the Mill’s Farm for Landcare. The school received
$400 for doing this. Thank you very much Leanne Price, Kelvin Marriott, Denise Palmer and Delma
Marriott; your assistance to raising funds for the school is really appreciated.
Lunch Orders
Please note there will be no canteen next week, Friday 28th March.

O.S.H.C NEWS
WANTED: No longer wanted T-shirts for O.S.H.C. They can be any size and any colour. All donations are greatly appreciated.
We plan on making some woven mats as an activity and need as many T-shirts as possible.
Please drop them off in the canteen to Casey or when you drop off or pick up your child from OSHC.
Some parents may have received a Risk Minimization Form from OSHC this week. These forms
have to be completed, they are very easy to fill out as we only ask for your (the parents) information
that best describes your child's medical condition and how you treat it. No doctor required to sign.
Also Asthma Care Forms are being distributed to some families, these forms must also be completed for both school and OSHC. These forms DO require you to seek a doctors signature and medical
expertise. Even if your child rarely suffers Asthma, you MUST complete these forms .

Next week is Farm World 2014 (27th, 28th,29th and 30th March)! Thankyou to the 65 volunteers who have already registered to assist over the 4 days. We still require around 15 volunteers, especially on Thursday and Friday, and also in the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday. This is THE MAJOR FUNDRAISER for our school year and is worth a massive $10,000
to our school. To enable us to finalise the roster and circulate ticket and information packs to
volunteers, could you please return your forms ASAP. Additional volunteer forms are available from the office or you can also access the form from the school's website. We have been
very fortunate in the past to have a wide group of volunteers drawn from our school families
(old, current and new, as well as ex-students and many a hard working grandparent too!),
staff (past and present) and many friends of our school. If you know of anyone who may be
available to help please let them know the dates. If you have any questions or need any further information at this stage, please contact Denise Palmer on 0419 120 891.
Slices and Biscuits Needed!
Maybe you can’t help with the Farm World Delivery Service, but still want to
assist in some way? Well, here’s how…
Once again we are looking for donations of delicious slices and biscuits for our hard-working
volunteers to enjoy while working at Farm World! These goodies have been much
appreciated by our volunteers in previous years and we'd like to be able to supply morning
and afternoon tea again. So please consider supporting our volunteers by cooking up a
homemade treat! When choosing slices or biscuits please keep in mind that they can't be
refrigerated and must be easy to eat on the run. Slices and biscuits can be left in the school
canteen on or before Thursday 27th March. If you have any queries please contact Belinda
King on 5625 2890.
Thanks for your help!
Bulb Orders
Thanks to the people who have already placed orders for the bulbs. If you haven't yet put an order in, you still have the weekend to get your order organised. Don’t forget to ask family and
friends too! 50% of all orders will go towards the school’s fundraising efforts. All orders will be
processed on Monday 24th March and bulbs will be delivered to school early term 2.
There will be no lunch orders on Friday 28th March due to Farm World commitments. The week
after Farm World is the last day of term so we will be having our sausage sizzle on Friday 4th
April (an order form for the sausage sizzle will be sent home with the newsletter on the 28th
March).

Grade 1/2 have made many
beautiful things in the
kitchen this term including
Zucchini Slice, Mini
Pizzas and Quesadillas. We
have used many fresh
ingredients provided by our
vegetable garden to create
our dishes. We have had
fun and learnt a lot of
interesting facts along the
way. The children have
developed their cooking
skills and are becoming
more confident with their
ability to crack eggs, cut
vegetables and assemble
their dish.

Big task cooking for more than 100 people.

With a great team effort the Drouin South school PFF
parents provided a lovely meal to everyone attending
the Landcare Field Day.
Sean Choolburra– By Lachlan
The day started at 11:30 am on the 18th, when the school went to the hall for Sean Choolburra’s
show. Sean started playing the didgeridoo for an introduction for us to listen to. Sean did it for about
5 minutes making cool but different sounds. The didgeridoo was brown with painting on it for decoration and the didgeridoo was long with a slight curve at the end where there was a big round hole.
When everyone had quietened down Sean started his show for the school.
The way the lizard gets it’s frills stared off with the girl wanting the lizard to get some honey from
the tree. The girl talked to the lizard and the lizard started climbing the tree and said “what will the
bush honey go in?” The girl gave the lizard a grass skirt to dip the honey in. The lizard started climbing the tree to get to the honey. Finally the lizard go to the top and dipped it in. The lizard tasted it
and then put the whole skirt in and he ate the bush honey and the skirt. The skirt got stuck and make
a Frilled Neck Lizard.
The way Sean’s culture talked on the phone was by two cups and string between the two plastic cups.
The string was a bit tangled up when people out the front were talking to each other.
The way Sean made fire was by rubbing a stick on a piece of wood and then picking up coconut string
to make fire. Sean made a handle so you didn't burn yourself.
