The Great Glen Canoe Trail guide map
The Great Glen Canoe Trail Is one of the UK’s great canoe adventures. It requires skill, strength, determination and above all, wisdom on the water. You are advised to paddle the Trail between Banavie and Muirtown as the sea access sections at each end involve long and difficult portage. Complete the Trail and join the select paddling few who have enjoyed this truly unique wilderness adventure. Enjoy, stay safe and leave no trace. www.greatglencanoetrail.info Designed and produced by Heehaw Digital | Map Version 2 | Copyright British Waterways Scotland 2011 Trail Safety Contacts When on open water remember: When planning your trail: Remember to register for your FREE canoe licence Ensure you have the latest weather forecast Read the safety information provided by the Caledonian Canal Team Wear appropriate clothing Plan where you are staying and book appropriate accommodation if required Stay as a group and look out for each other Look out for and use the Canoe Trail pontoons Paddle on the right hand side and do not canoe sail Be alert, and be visible to approaching craft Watch out for wake caused by larger boats Informal Camping Portage Route British Waterways – CH74 Commercial Camping Handy Phone Numbers Canoe Rack Canal Office, Inverness – 01463 725500 Bunk House Be prepared to take shelter should the weather change Canal Office, Corpach - 01397 772249 In the event of an emergency on the water, call 999 and ask for the coastguard Met Office – 01392 885680 Orientation Panel Access/Egress Point Lock Gates Swing Bridges Shopping Inverness Harbour - 01463 715715 Always wear a personal buoyancy aid when on the canal or open water.
