The 26th to 28th of August 2016 WIKF Norway invite to
Summer Camp Oslo with Sensei Jon Wicks (8th Dan) World
Chief Instructor WIKF. Along with Sensei Wicks you will find Sensei
Cato Bruarøy (6th Dan), Sensei Espen Karlsen (6th Dan) and Sensei
Kjell Jacobsen (6th Dan). The Summer Camp is open to all styles, and will
include instruction in Wado Ryu.
It is taught in traditional karate (all grades, beginners are also welcome),
competition training, tanto dori, tachi dori, kumite, advanced kata etc. All
styles are welcome!
WIKF Norway is one of the few competence centers and organizational
cooperation for clubs and practitioners throughout Norway who
trains karate form Wado Kokusai. WIKF is also recognized as
an affiliate of the legendary karate master Dr. Tatsuo Suzuki’s
Wado International Karate-Do Federation (WIKF), one of the
largest karate organizations with members in the world
with an impressive list of members from 67 countries.
Practitioners who achieve Dan-degrees (black
belt) in WIKF Norway are registered with WIKF
internationally and receives official diploma from
the head office in Japan.

Sensei Jon Wicks (8.Dan)
- WIKF World Chief Instructor
Sensei Wicks is one of Dr. Suzuki its best students. Sensei Wicks
started practicing karate at the age of 13 years. He was graded
Shodan (1st Dan) at the age of 17, and at 44 years old, he became
one of the youngest in Wado Ryu in the world that was awarded
the 7th Dan of Dr. Suzuki. At the age of 50 he became the
youngest official Wado Ryu 8th dan, awarded by Master Suzuki
personally. Under WIKF EC in Cyprus in 2009, he was appointed
a master instructor of style and an international WIKF World
Chief Instructor.
Sensei Cato Bruarøy (6.Dan)

Sensei Cato Bruarøy started practicing karate at the age of
12, with the late sensei Mihajlo Misic (7th dan) in Os Karate
club as his mentor. Sensei Cato Bruarøy is currently the chief
instructor of WIKF Norway At the same time Sensei Bruarøy is
the chairman of WIKF Norway’s technical committee, a member
of the Technical Committee in the Norwegian Martial Arts
Federation karate section and the chairman of the nominating committee for both the Martial
Arts Association in general and for the federation karate section.
Sensei Espen Karlsen (6.Dan)
Sensei Espen Karlsen has practiced karate since 1983 and played a key role in WIKF Norway
and predecessor since 1985. He has been the personal trainer of several national athletes in
karate. Personally he hold several placements among the top five in Wado-EC in both kata and
kumite. Sensei Karlsen is the father of the development of WIKF Norway and can be found in
instruction in many karate clubs all over Norway. Karlsen is the main instructor for Rana Karate
club and is responsible for WIKF in Northern part of Norway.
Sensei Kjell Jacobsen (6.Dan)
Sensei Kjell Jacobsen is the main instructor in Nordnes Karate club and Bønes Karate club.
Sensei Jacobsen leads the Referee Committee in Norway and is a top internationally recognized
referee. He is also a member of the Technical Committee in WIKF Norway. Sensei Jacobsen
began practicing karate in 1977 under sensei Mihajlo Misic. In competitions he has been
recognized as one of the best karate athlete of all time, and he is the former national coach
of Norway and has won the Norwegian Championship and received the kings medal of honor
several times in karate and former European Champion Wado Ryu
Access Bygdøhus
There is ample parking right outside Bygdøhus. Parking fee is asked.
From the center of Oslo we recommended bus or boat alongside with taxi / uber.
Bus:
Bus number 30 from Drammensveien and Bygdø Allè. Busses depart every 15 minutes and the journey out
to the arena is approximately 15 min.
Boat:
If you chose boat it leaves from Rådhuskaien (Bygdø boats)/ City Hall port and to the museums at Bygdø. It is
an approximate 7 minutes’ walk from the pier in Bygdø to the arena. The boats departs every 15 minutes.
Access Oslo
Airports:
Oslo can be selected in three different airports at Oslo Airport Gardermoen as main airport. It can be
supplemented with Moss Airport Rygge and Sandefjord Airport Torp.
Ferrys:
From Denmark you may arrive directly in the center of Oslo with a ferry from Fredrikshavn or Copenhagen.
You may also arrive in Larvik with a faster ferry from Hirtshals. Larvik is approximately 130 km from Oslo.
Train:
Trains from all locations in Norway plus Sweden. The main train station is Oslo S. Should you stay at
Scandic Solli who is WIKF Norway partnering hotel you can get off at the National Theatre station. All
trains including airport train (Flytoget) stops there. Leave through the entrance Parkveien / Henrik Ibsen’s
street in the west end of the platform, from there it is 150 meters to the Scandic Solli hotel. Passengers
in train from Sweden must change trains at Oslo S, the National Theatre is next (first) station westward.

Other accommodations are possible. Airbnb and a large variety of hotels, camping etc. can be found in the
Oslo area. WIKF Norway partnering hotel Scandic Solli is very central to the city. Bus number 30 to Bygdø.
There is a bus stop just 50 meters from the hotel. The boat to Bygdø leave at the pier approximately 400
meters from the hotel.

It is important for WIKF Norway to build relationships with each other, it added up to socializing / dinner
(paid individually) on Saturday evening from kl. 19.00 onwards. We hope that as many as possible will
participate, but it must be requested in advance. Limited seats - first come, first serve basis. Binding
registration and the final deadline is Friday, August 26 - if there are any seats left.
