The National Football Foundation's CHAPTER NETWORK APRIL 22, 2016 • Volume 12 Issue 1 Presented Presented by by Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter Distributes Impressive $60,000 in Scholarships The Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter honored 37 high school scholar-athletes in the Bienville Club Room at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The honorees are pictured with Allstate Sugar Bowl Executive Director Paul Hoolahan (center front left) and Sugar Bowl President Chuck Lapeyre. The announcement of the six $10,000 scholarships, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, provided the highlight of the evening. The chapter has distributed $270,000 during the past six years. Darryl Berger (center), chairman of the Board of Tulane University, received the chapter's Distinguished American Award from Allstate Sugar Bowl President Chuck Lapeyre and Sugar Bowl committee member Mark Romig. NFF Chairman Archie Manning annually welcomes the crowd, reading the bios of each of the 37 scholar-athletes. The chapter's Contributions to Amateur Football Award was presented to Senator Edwin Murray (center). Judge Brian Jackson (right) introduced the Senator along with Allstate Sugar Bowl President Chuck Lapeyre. Judge Jackson is also a member of the Sugar Bowl Committee. Presented by Mike Cleary/Northeast Ohio Chapter Honors Areas Best Distributing $26,000 in Scholarships at 28th Annual Awards Banquet A sold out crowd of more than 500 people saw 26 high school and 13 collegiate scholar-athletes honored for their achievements on and off the field. Cleveland TV sports personality Jim Mueller emceed the event. This outstanding group of high school scholar-athletes claimed honors for their achievements on the field, in the classroom and community. Former Clemson running back and Cleveland Brown Pro-Bowler Kevin Mack received the chapter’s Dino Lucarelli Lifetime Achievement Award. April Goss was the second female in FBS history to record a point in game with a second quarter extra point. Youngstown State President and 2015 College Hall of Famer Jim Tressel welcomes Penguin Head Coach Bo Pelini who was the featured speaker. Presented by Central New York Chapter Honors 83 Scholars and Distributes $40,750 in Scholarships at 16th Annual Event An immense dais seated 74 high school and nine collegiate scholar-athletes during the Central NY Chapter banquet at the Turning Stone Casino. The chapter has distributed a total of $399,750 since its inception. Strong leadership has made Central New York a leading NFF Chapter.
