A GIRO D’ITALIA TRIBUTE TO
MARCO PANTANI
The 97th Edition of the Giro d’Italia will start
in Belfast (Northern Ireland) on May 9 and finish
in the historic seaside city of Trieste on June 1.
The 2014 edition marks the centenary birth of
Italian champion Gino Bartali and the tenth
anniversary of “ Il Pirata” Marco Pantani’s ride
into eternity. Is worth noting the return of the
iconic Stelvio Pass for a second year in a row.
However, the 2014 Giro’s Queen stage will be
on May 31 with a climb to the terrifying Monte
Zoncolan, a day after a crucial hill time trial
from Bassano to the summit of Monte Grappa.
The confirmation of Ivan Basso along with
double Il Lombardia champion “Purito”
Rodriguez and TdF winner Cadel Evans have
created great anticipation.

May 23 to June 2, 2014
Our Giro programme starts in Milan. With no time
to waste on the second day we immediately join
the Giro route. On Saturday we will climb the
Oropa and the following day the Monte
Campione. Monday is a big day as we climb the
Gavia Pass and then we reach the hearth of the
Italian Alps and climb the Stelvio from its famous 48
hairpin bends side. On May 27 we’ll wait at the
cima of the Stelvio for the peloton. On May 28 we
start riding from Lavis to the arrival of stage 18
and we will climb the Passo Redebus on our way to
our Hotel in Caldonazzo Lake. On May 29 we’ll be
at the arrival of the dolomitic stage on the
Panarotta, the riders will be climbing first the San
Pellegrino and then the Passo Redebus. On the
30th after watching the time-trial climb
Bassano Monte Grappa we will ride from
Caldonazzo to the top of Mount Grappa. On May
31 we’ll await the arrival of the Giro stage on the
Zoncolan with thousands of cycling fans in one of
the most beautiful cycling monuments of the
world. On June1, we’ll ride the last 60 km on the
final part of the last stage of the 97th edition of the
Giro d’Italia.

Malpensa Airport, Milan
Transfer to the beautiful residence of the 17th century,
the Hotel Castello dal Pozzo ****, in Oleggio Castello
(Novara)
Bike delivery and short tour to test bikes provided by us.

For those who were staying at the Enjoy Garda Hotel in the
previous days the transfer to Malpensa will be after
breakfast.

first stage of the Giro 2014

We will watch the end of the stage, where Marco
Pantani gave us one of his greatest wins on the15th
stage of the Giro in 1999
After the ride, transfer in our minivan to the Hotel

75km ride from Trescore Balneario; you will be riding 50k on
the final part of the 15th stage of the Giro and a mountain
finish at Montecampione (Brescia)
• After some refreshments, we will watch the stage finale in
Montecampione
• After the stage, we will ride downhill for 5 km to Boario
Terme (Brescia)

The Peloton might be taken a rest day but we will ride100
km from the Hotel to reach Bormio (Sondrio). We will be
riding part of the 16th stage of the Giro, climbing the
magnificent Passo Gavia.

tomorrow’s Queen stage at the Zoncolan.

60 km of the race route of the Giro.
• In Trieste the big question is: would it be a sprint finish or
perhaps a heroic solo victory? We will watch the winners’
ceremony and closing of the Giro 2014
