This exhibition was organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, CA in association with Denenberg Fine Art, West Hollywood, CA. Rimer Cardillo: Jornadas de la memoria Pioneering Uruguayan artist Rimer Cardillo is widely known for his major outdoor pieces called “cupi.” A preeminent printmaker, he is regarded as one of the most prominent contemporary South American artists. This exhibition is sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts. Francisco José de Goya (Spanish, 1746-1828) The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (Caprichos No. 43: El Sueño de la razon produce monstruos), 1796-97 Etching and aquatint, 1st Edition 1799 Plate dimensions 213 x 150 mm. Rimer Cardillo Cicada, Dog-Day Announcer (Chicharra del medio día) from the series Sublime Orfebreria (Sublime Jewelry), 1978-79 Mixed Media Print Collection of the Artist DECEMBER 10, 2011 — MARCH 18, 2012 The Paintings of Louis Comfort Tiffany: Works from a Long Island Collection Drawn from a spectacular Long Island collection, this exhibition showcases more than 100 original works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, offering an uncommon glimpse into the artist’s personal world. Tiffany’s light-filled Orientalism and his use of sensuous Art Nouveau lines contrasted sharply with the era’s prevailing dark Victorian décor and had a powerful influence on the evolving aesthetics of the wealthy and famous of the Gilded Age. Rimer Cardillo Members Socialize at Exhibition Preview Party Outdoors at the Museum Museum members found much to celebrate as they previewed three exciting new exhibitions: Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence, Josef Albers—Formulation: Articulation and Robert Hite: Imagined Histories. Avedon’s photographs demonstrated how he revolutionized the way celebrities and fashion are depicted, while the silkscreened prints by Albers revealed his explorations into the complex interrelationships of color. Hite’s photographs and sculpture proved so popular that the showing was expanded from the Contemporary Gallery to the Art Space for Children. SCULPTURE PARK More than 40 works, many of them monumental in size, by renowned artists including Fernando Botero, Tom Otterness, George Rickey and Mark DiSuvero among others are situated to interact with nature on the museum’s magnificent property. Teachers from the Half Hollow Hills School District recently spent a day learning how the museum’s exhibitions and grounds relate to various curricular areas in ways that can enhance student learning. Robert Hite’s works, exploring recycled materials in relationship to the natural environment, were a springboard for artmaking by fourth graders from the Seaford Harbor Elementary School. Family Photo Day, inspired by the work of Richard Avedon, was a great hit with youngsters. They trotted out their best smiles for the lens of photographer Sol Aramendi. Director of Education Laura Lynch guides students from the Portledge School in Locust Valley through the museum’s exhibition of paintings by Milton Avery. First graders from The Children’s Storefront in New York City visited the museum thanks to Amb. Arnold A. Saltzman, the founding president of the museum’s Board of Trustees. They enjoyed a guided tour of the exhibitions and engaged in art activities inspired by what they had seen. Drawing is by first grader Jayden R.
