 SORTAPALOOZA - The second Sortapalooza Ranch Sorting Jackpot was another huge success. We
had a total of 59 teams compete for a total jackpot of $1450. At this event a cash payout of $145 was
paid to the team who sorted the most cows in the least amount of time for
each Go. The first Go was a tie between the teams of Jimmy McGill & Susie
Nagel and Julie Padgett & Jacob Johnson who both sorted 9 cows in 59.71
seconds. The 2nd Go was won by Calle Hinkle and Sue Gaiser with 9 cows
sorted in 59.54 seconds, and the 3rd Go was won by Tim Padgett & Brad
Flanders who sorted all 10 cows in 59.71 seconds. Ten teams advanced to
the finals with 1st place going to Calle Hinkle and Sue Gaiser and a cash
prize of $406. Tim Padgett & Brad Flanders took 2nd place for $304.50
followed by Ryan Taylor & Sally Flanders in 3rd for $203 and 4th place went
to Shannon Finch & Harry McInnis for $101.50. The final Ranch Sorting event in this series will take
place on Sat., August 15th. Buckles will be awarded at the end of this event to the top 3 riders with the
most cows sorted for all 3 events. Registration is from 8 to 9:30am with the event starting at 10am.
Entry fee is $25 per/go, with a maximum of 4 go’s (must have at least one draw). No duplication of
teams allowed. The kitchen will be open from 11am to 2pm serving Hamburgers, Cheese Burgers and
Hot Dogs for a nominal donation. Ranch sorting practice will be available on Wed. & Thurs., Aug.
12th & 13th from 6 to 8pm at a fee of $20 per rider/per practice for members and $25/ per rider for nonmembers. For additional information, please contact Gary Fraze or Bruce Voigt. As always,

MEMBERSHIP - Our membership just keeps growing. We added 14 new members in July, Penny,
Jonas, Karly & Carson Lundgren, Tim, Julie & Lauren Padgett, Kendra Hartsell, Kim Delandtsheer,
Laura and Rudy Rosales, Christine Grade, and Rylee & Ondalynn Seaman. Welcome to all of our
newest members, we look forward to seeing you at more Los Vaqueros events.
GREENSPOT TRAIL RIDE – We had 10 riders for the Greenspot Trail ride on July 26th, which was
led by KC Huffman. Lifetime member Barbara Peterson came up and rode “Georgi” KC’s Tennessee
Walker. It was so nice to have her riding back up on the mountain
again and what a beautiful day for it! We even got to do a little “cross
country”, which was a lot of fun and a good workout for our horses.
The next trail ride will be Aug 9th in the Baldwin Lake area. Riders
should meet at the corner of Kickapoo Dr. and Lakeview Rd at 11am.
This ride will be approximately 2 ½ hrs. Contact Kathy Armsby to

SADDLE RAFFLE – There’s still time to buy tickets for the drawing for the Los Vaqueros
Custom Western Saddle to be given away at the August 22nd Horse Show. Winner need
not be present. Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. You can purchase tickets at the
Sortapalooza on August 15th, , the Horse Show on Aug. 22nd ,prior to the drawing, or by

HORSE SHOW - We had a wonderful turnout for July's show with a surprise
“free” class given, by judge Sharon, that was for anyone who wanted to participate.
It was the largest class and everyone had fun. A huge thank you to all of the
volunteers, we couldn't do it without you! The 2nd Horse Show of our season is
scheduled for Saturday, August 22. Registration is at
8am with the show starting at 9am. Sharon Piccolo
will once again be our judge. The kitchen will be open from 11am to
2pm for hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, soft drinks, water , chips
and candy.
BARREL BASH CANCELED! – Unfortunately, the Barrel Bash, which was scheduled for Sept 13th, has
been canceled. We regret having to make this decision but we just do not have enough resources to
put on a quality event at this time and felt it best to cancel.
LOS VAQUEROS ALUMNI GATHERING – Mark it on your calendars! The Annual Alumni BBQ
will be held Sat., Sept. 12th following the final horse show event of the season. Adult beverages will
start to flow around 5:30. Whether you are a current member or past member, come out for a great
time seeing old and new friends, listening to great music and enjoying some fabulous food. More
details to follow!
AUGUST GENERAL MEETING – The next General meeting is on Tuesday August 11th at 6pm at the
Los Vaqueros Arena. This will be a combination Board Meeting and General Meeting. Non-members
are always welcome and encouraged to attend to see what Los Vaqueros is all about
