GE Appliances Dishwasher Heating Element Replacement BEFORE YOU BEGIN Lower the leveling legs to clear the counter top and pull the dishwasher out approximately 16 inches. Read these instructions completely and carefully. IMPORTANT Observe all governing codes and ordinances. WARNING: Service should only be performed by a qualified service technician. Have available the appropriate personal protective equipment, including equipment and materials required for compliance with Electrical Safe Work Practices - Subparts S of the OSHA regulations prior to beginning work. Validate the dishwasher model and serial number are part of the repair program. Provide sufficient room to reach behind the tub support to the heating element connections. Disconnect the dishwasher from power using the proper LOTO (Lock Out - Tag Out) procedures. Remove the toe kick and mounting screws. Inspect whether the water and drain lines require disconnecting to enable the dishwasher to be pulled out approximately 16 inches. Turn off the water and disconnect lines if necessary. 1 Disconnect the two wires attached to the heating element and remove the two 15/16” plastic retaining nuts (shown from the bottom of the tub for clarity). Install and tighten the two plastic nuts and reconnect the wiring to the new heating element from under the dishwasher tub. Reinstall the dishwasher under the counter top, adjusting the legs to level the unit and reinstall the mounting screws. Check operation by starting a wash cycle. Allow the dishwasher to fill with water, circulate, heat and then drain to check for leaks. A quick way to test is to enter service mode and energize individual components. Refer to the mini-manual enclosed with the product for directions to enter service mode for the specific model. Remove the old heating element from inside the tub and render it inoperable by carefully breaking off one of the electrical terminals. Dispose of the old heating element. Place the green dot (supplied) on the tub below the model tag to signify the repair has been completed. Install the new gaskets (supplied) on the new heating element and place the new heating element in the tub. 2 Service Mode for the following models: EDW4, GSD61, GSD62, GSD63, GSD66, GSD67, GSD69 and PDW7 THIS DISHWASHER IS PROGRAMMED WITH A SERVICE MODE TO AID THE TECHNICIAN IN TROUBLESHOOTING THE DISHWASHER.
