Security Solution: Data Security Kit

job. Sharp’s exclusive Data Security Kit effectively erases all document data from the Sharp
copier / printer hard disk eliminating the need
to remove or store the disk drive in order to protect confidential information.

the memory of a digital copier / printer is a
non-trivial task, requiring a very well informed
technician, today’s sophisticated hackers are
not above using any means necessary in their
attempt to acquire valuable information.
Sharp’s sophisticated erase utility can eliminate the threat by providing the user with the
tools necessary to discharge their responsibility to handle confidential information appropriately. When Sharp’s Data Security Kit is
installed, the efficient new Sharp machines
they use to copy, print, scan, and transmit confidential documents will not retain the documents when their jobs are finished.
Sharp’s Data Security Kit writes random data
over the sections of the hard drive used to temporarily store document data making it impossible to recover them. The software is usually
configured to auto-erase after every copy,
print, or scan, and provides the option of eraseon-demand when required.

Sharp copier / printers which have had
the Data Security Kit installed display a
message on the copier control panel following every job which indicates that
“HDD DATA IS BEING CLEARED”.
During that time, typically a second or
less, no other operations are available.

network queue and release individual print jobs on demand when, and even where, they are required. Sharp’s
Data Security Kit (Hard Disk Erase) then removes the document data from the copier / printers memory.

cost, and finishing features of the shared printer. Since the print jobs are held in the network print queue any
compatible printer attached to the queue can serve as the output station enabling users to bypass machines
tied up by other users. Quick access to jobs improves office productivity. Unlike copier/printer based “mailboxes” there are no fixed limits on document size, number of documents, or number of users served. Document
access using personal ID cards in addition to PINs is also more secure.
