ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR FY2016
The main lobby was to have large paintings on
opposite walls, one of which can also be seen
(partially) in the photo previously mentioned. I
remember the Architect bemoaning the
simplistic paintings were not appropriate for
the space.
I encourage all members to attend the meeting
on the 20th to vote for the officers who will
lead the Chapter beginning July 1 and ending
on June 30, 2017.
So, what does an Agreement between an
Owner and an Artist need to include? One
“Contract to Commission an Artwork” that can

which a work of fine art was commissioned.

The first project was the Stephen Wise Temple,
Wise School, a elementary school in Los
Angeles, and the work was to be a gate at the
entrance to a special room used for a religious
ceremony (if I remember correctly). I do not
remember it being a very large room, so I
doubt it was a Beth Midrash (i.e., study hall).
Unfortunately, I never saw the artist’s design
sketches, because they were not completed
when my employment as the architectural
firm’s specifier ended.
The second project was to have etched glass
panels that were backlit installed in the two
elevator lobbies of 55 Second Street (later
renamed the KPMG Building) in San Francisco.
It is my understanding that a building tenant
objected to the depiction of nude humans
cavorting, so the panels were replaced. It
appears in the 3rd photo in the web site (http://
www.hines.com/properties/kpmg-building-sanfrancisco) that at least one of the panels is of a

OLD BUSINESS:
Bands: Board discussed Weldon Henson and Graham
Wilkinson. Larry mentioned he would send the Board

Sponsorships: It was agreed to have three levels of
sponsors:
- Platinum Sponsor 4 at $1,000 each
- Gold Sponsor unlimited number at $250 each
- Bronze Sponsor unlimited number at $100 each
In lieu of using the names of precious metals to designate
the different levels of sponsorship, it was suggested to use
names such as Lonestar and Yellow Rose of Texas as a
way of tying the event to Texas

Larry will contact David Brady regarding the Chapter’s
participation in the High Performance Buildings and
Workplaces Conference and Exposition to be held on
May 3 and May 4. Marina will be at the conference
representing Cosella Dorken.

Scholarship Fund: It was suggested to have the CSI
College of Fellows which Sheldon Wolfe is the
Chancellor of present a check to the UT School of
Architecture at the CSI Convention. Larry will contact
Sheldon.

Jody has been in contact the Poke Joes for the food for
the event. Rough budget of $5,000 pluss a 10 to 20
percent service fee.

Balance: $30,728.14
Motion was made to accept the proposal from Brazos
Hall which includes having Brazos Hall purchase and
serve the alcohol. Marina seconded. Motion approved.
Total Budget for the event is $22,500. For alcohol, the
Chapter will carry a budget of $8,400. The Chapter will
cover $5,000 and could be liable for the balance of $3,400
if attendees do not purchase additional drinks beyond the
two drinks at $7 dollars per drink.
