EUROPEAN CRICKET
Cricket is recorded as having first been
played in Europe by Admiral Nelson’s troops
and sailors whilst they were stationed in
Naples in 1793. The game quickly grew in
popularity, and was regularly played at
amateur level throughout the 19th century.
Many professional clubs formed at the end of
the 19th and beginning of the 20th century,
the most famous of which, the Milan Cricket
and Football Club, was the fore-runner of
A.C. Milan. However, the rise of Fascism
across Europe in the 1920s and 1930s saw a
decline in the game’s popularity. Although it
continued to be played at amateur level, it
wasn’t until the 1990s that it began to revive
on a larger scale.
During the 1960’s and 70’s as a large number
of Europeans migrated to cricket playing
countries like Australia, South Africa and New
Zealand, their children took to the game in
their new country. Consequently, as these
children grew older they would return to
their parents’ country of birth bringing with
them their new found love of Cricket.

Since 2000 competitive, International Cricket
Council (ICC) recognised international cricket
has been played throughout Europe. Today
cricket continues to grow on the back of
the world wide explosion of the Twenty20
phenomena. Countries like Italy, Germany,
France, Greece, Austria, Croatia, Israel,
Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Spain
and Portugal (amongst a number of other
European countries) regularly field club and
international teams and play competitive
cricket. Although there have been many
tournaments over this time period, there is a
requirement and a zest for more competition
by all European countries ever since the ICC
cut its tournament funding to a minimum.
THE VISION
Dunmore Sports (DS) have created an
innovative vision for European cricket
tournaments to be played each European
summer culminating in the impressive
Mediterranean Premier League (MPL).

THE MEDITERRANEAN PREMIER LEAGUE
(MPL)
The Mediterranean Premier League is to be
played in Europe in alternating venues all
over Europe every year from 2015. Making
its debut in 2015 the Mediterranean Premier
League is open to all European Cricket
Associations to put in a team and also all
European club teams. The tournament is
ground breaking and has never been seen
before in Europe. Based on the successful
model used by the KFC Big Bash in Australia
and the Indian Premier League in India
National teams and club teams (6-12) will play
each other in non-stop action over 5 days in
the exciting format of Twenty20 cricket. The
tournament will feature many innovations
that will captivate players, sponsors and fans
alike. This will be a colourful and entertaining
competition with a very strong corporate
presence with our sponsors having a very
visible and rewarding role to play in the
tournament. Our corporate partners will be
integral to the success of the Mediterranean
Premier League and will be valued and
appreciated.

Dunmore Sports (DS) is looking for a suitable
corporate partner to become involved in
the Naming Rights of the Mediterranean
Premier League (MPL) in 2015 and beyond.
DS are also looking for a number of Principle
and Associate sponsors to ensure the
success of the tournament. Sponsoring the
Mediterranean Premier League would ensure
your name is synonymous with European
cricket whilst opening up your brand to not
only new European sporting markets but
also other corporate markets of Europe, Asia,
Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India,
Pakistan, Hong Kong and wherever cricket
is played due to the heritage of some of the
players.
The Naming Rights Sponsor would also have

Dunmore Sports (DS) is focussed on
bringing cricket tournaments to areas of
the cricketing world where development
and growth of the game is paramount.
JEFF GRZINIC
Jeff Grzinic is a current international
cricketer for Croatia and had been part
of the national team since 2003. Jeff has
toured many European countries whilst
representing Croatia and has also played
in New Zealand. As well as representing
his country of ancestry, Jeff has played
WACA grade cricket in Australia for over
20 years with great success.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Social Science
(Leisure Science) and has written two
well received cricket books (All By
Accident, Machine Guns and Cricket Bats)
on his travels and experiences as an
International cricketer.

Rugby League Championships, and has
also spent many years as a President and
Administrator of sporting clubs in Perth.
Tony is a twenty year veteran in
professional administration and has
utilised the skills he has acquired in his
professional life to bring on and off field
success to the sporting clubs he has
administered in Western Australia.
