Waller Cooperstown, NY NEW PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS ENLIVEN THE GROUNDS THIS SUMMER, CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF OUR GUESTS. Flight Patterns, is an installation of 10, 16-foot Japanese-style wind vane banners, created by nationally preeminent aerial sculptors and kite makers, George Peters and Melanie Walker of Boulder, Colorado. The work ran the length of the main walkway six weeks prior to the season and can now be found suspended in the Pavilion and Theater entrance to afford a closer look at the digitally-collaged butterflies. No two are alike. Take a Seat: Bring It Home showcases 10 inventive artist-designed benches made from a broad range of materials. Start on the mountain above the parking lot (1, 2), tour the grounds around the theater (3-9) and end up at Woodcock Porch (10) or reverse direction. The pieces have been created by seven accomplished mid-career artists who now call the greater Glimmerglass region home. More information is available at www.glimmerglass.org/art2014 or at the Gift Shop.
