Stan Utley The Art of Golf Stan Utley is one of the most well known and sought after SHORT GAME INSTRUCTORS in golf. He is a PGA TOUR winner and currently ranks 14th according to Golf Digest’s “America’s 50 Greatest Teachers” – a poll of more than 1,500 teaching professionals from around the country. Born in January, 1962, Utley attended the University of Missouri where he was a three-time All-Big Eight selection and two-time All-American. After graduation, Utley turned pro in 1984 and joined the PGA TOUR winning the 1989 Chattanooga Classic. He also holds the PGA TOUR record for fewest putts in nine holes with six at the 2002 Air Canada Championship. Utley also competed on the Web.com Tour earning three victories – the 1993 NIKE Cleveland Open and the 1995 NIKE Louisiana Open and NIKE Miami Valley Open. Currently, Utley focuses most of his time on teaching. His list of current and former students reads like a who’s who of golfers on the PGA, Web.com, Champions and LPGA Tours including: Jay Haas, Scott Piercy, Bill Haas, Paige Mackenzie, Amanda Blumenherst, Kevin Streelman, Darren Clarke, Brandt Jobe, Sergio Garcia, Rocco Mediate, Alex Noran, Inbee Park, Paul McGinley and many more. Utley’s passion is watching people “light up” when they have the experience of understanding and executing better golf through his instruction and encouragement. Utley begins each session by asking a series of questions to better comprehend a student’s playing history and goals. He then calls on his experience as a PGA TOUR player and instructor to share proven techniques for shooting lower scores in a simple, understandable way. Utley has also written four instructional books – The Art of the Swing, The Art of Putting, The Art of the Short Game and The Art of Scoring – and developed a subscription-based video instruction website called Stan University (Stan U). Utley resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his family and plays out of Grayhawk Golf Club. STAN UTLEY INSTRUCTION STAN THE TEACHER As a player on the PGA TOUR Stan understood the importance of shooting low scores and incorporates that mentality into his teaching philosophy. In addition to amateur golfers, Stan has taught and still teaches a host of Tour players many of whom credit Stan for their success. “Prior to discussing my putting with Stan, I was struggling badly. What he told me in just a few minutes meant more to me than what anyone had ever told me in regards to my stroke. Stan has a great knowledge of the game and a wonderful way of getting his message across.” — JAY HAAS, nine-time PGA TOUR winner and 16-time Champions Tour winner There are four ways to gain valuable golf instruction from Stan Utley: • Book a personal, one-on-one lesson with Stan at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ • Have Stan at your club for a corporate clinic or instructional outing with your staff, your clients or a group of friends • Purchase one of Stan’s four golf instruction books, each covering an important facet of your golf game, and read his instruction articles that occasionally appear in the pages of Golf Digest Magazine • Join other Members on Stan University (Stan U) at StanUtley.com “Yeah, you know, when you shoot 10 under par, you're doing a lot of good things. After Stan Utley came and helped me…I rolled the ball great this week.” STAN U — SCOTT PIERCY, two-time PGA TOUR winner (after shooting 10-under par 61 in the 2013 WM Phoenix Open) “I’ve been working hard at it with Stan, and it seems to be getting better and better.” — SERGIO GARCIA, eight-time PGA TOUR winner and six-time European Ryder Cup player “The first thirty minutes I spent with Stan, I learned more about putting than in the previous twenty years. No matter where I am putting from I feel like I can make it. I was never thinking that way before.” — ROCCO MEDIATE, six-time PGA TOUR winner and one-time Champions Tour winner Stan’s newest venture – Stan University (Stan U) – is a subscription-based video instruction website offering Members access to Stan’s teaching methods through a series of 2-3 minute instructional videos.
