About our Ski Weekender Lite Packages These packages are designed to offer you all the convenience and quality you would expect from a Ski Weekender holiday but with a slightly more independent approach resulting in some lower prices. We still include all the essential elements - airport transfers, chalet-board accommodation in en-suite rooms and full Aravis region lift passes ready on arrival, plus the support of our Ski Team in resort. However, unlike some of our other accommodation, such as the Aravis Lodge, you will not have a dedicated team on hand 24/7. Ski hire is available with a partner shop situated close to the hotel. Ski hosting and evening entertainments run by our team are not included with the Ski Weekender Lite package. In summary – you’ll be staying in centrally located accommodation run by friendly local partners who will look after you very well, with our team close by and available to assist with all aspects of your holiday. Hotel Description The hotel has 20 bedrooms and features a mixture of twin, double and triple/quad rooms. All rooms are en-suite with showers / WC , TV and telephone. The rooms are well presented with traditional wooden features and décor. Some rooms have a south facing balcony with a view of the slopes and spectacular Aravis Mountain range. The ground floor has a bar and restaurant which is where your evening meal will be served. The restaurant has a good reputation in the village and is a popular spot during the winter season with locals and visitors alike. The hotel restaurant serves a range of hearty, tasty mountain dishes including the traditional Savoyard specialities of tartiflette, fondue and raclette, amongst other local delicacies. The Ski Weekender Lite package includes a set 3-course dinner every night of your stay (including Wednesdays on Midweek breaks). Table wine is included with dinner, and the kitchen can cater for vegetarians and other special dietary requirements as long as you let us know these in advance. The well-stocked hotel bar next to the restaurant has some games (darts, jenga) and is a good place to enjoy an aperitif or post-dinner drink. There is a small lounge and breakfast room on the first floor, which is for the exclusive use of hotel guests. A buffet-style breakfast is served to set you up for the day’s skiing. There is also a ski room available to store your equipment and dry your boots, although our ski hire partner does offer a free locker service at the foot of the slopes which is more convenient if you are skiing in Grand Bornand. The bedrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The rooms are all cosy, warm and well presented, with wooden Savoyard décor. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower / WC. Many rooms have a double and single bed, and some can accommodate up to 4 people. The staff and owners are friendly and welcoming and speak English; they will ensure that your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Our ski team is based 2km away, and is available by phone and during regular evening drop-ins at the hotel to help with anything you need during your holiday. The buffet breakfast will set you up for a day on the slopes. The recently refurbished restaurant and bar. Another view of the restaurant’s dining area. All bedrooms are en-suite. Hotel Location The hotel is located right in the centre of Le Grand Bornand which has all the facilities you could require (ATM, Post Office, shops, bars, restaurants etc) within a few seconds’ walk. The main telecabines / lifts are around 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel, and give you easy access to the great skiing of Le Grand Bornand. A ski bus stop is right outside the hotel. This can be used to access the Le Grand Bornand lifts without walking, or to travel to La Clusaz, just 10 minutes away offering a further 120km of skiing covered by the lift pass included in your package. The Resort and Region A very picturesque town, Le Grand Bornand is a year round resort that has retained its traditional charm. Many people who ski here once become enchanted and return for years afterwards. Le Grand Bornand is a very family friendly resort. You will find a number of excellent, good value restaurants in the attractive old centre based around the church. It’s not the most nightlife focused resort, but there are a few fun spots for an après–ski drink where you can enjoy an aperitif, beer or vin chaud in the company of locals and other visitors. Another point worth highlighting is the quality of slope maintenance across the ski area. Grand Bornand has one of the most skilful piste grooming and artificial snow management teams in the French Alps, who keep runs in exceptional condition even during periods without fresh snowfall. •excellent resort for beginners and intermediates as well as plenty of challenging terrain for advanced skiers; •good potential for off-piste skiing and ski touring; •resort full of traditional Savoyard charm; •transfer time from Geneva airport of less than an hour; •great choice of “non-skiing” activities; •lively après-ski but not overwhelmed by Brits; •good selection of mountain restaurants, bars and cafes – with more reasonable prices than other French resorts. The skiing is based around all sides of Mont Lachat, rising from the centre of the village. Combined with La Clusaz, on the same ski pass, the total ski area is 220km, offering a huge range of terrain and styles of skiing to suit all levels. The area sits between 1100m and 2600m, with the majority of skiing N/NE facing from 1500m – 2200m. The region has a favourable microclimate and consistently receives more snowfall at its altitude than other resorts in the northern French Alps.
