a new generation of 6Gbps SATA port multiplier(PM) that are designed for expanding high performance and ease of use for high density storage environments. There are several 6G port multiplier(PM) storage enclosure models; 4 Bay Tower Storage(CFI-BXX46xM), 5 Bay Tower Storage(CFI-BXX56xM) and 8 Bay Tower Storage(CFI-BXX86CM), that make up the family of CFI TOWER V3 series. Please refer to the PRODUCT DETAILS section below for details on CFI 6G SATA HDD storage solution. The CFI TOWER V3 series are the newest members in our PM family that supports SATA III 6.0Gbps data transfer rate. The 4 Bay / 5 Bay / 8 Bay SATA external enclosure featuring USB and eSATA Port Multiplier (eSATA Port Multiplier Card Required), which can connect up to 4 / 5 / 8 SATA / SATA II / SATA III hard drives to a host via a single SATA port or USB port. A single e-SATA port provides a direct, single connection and flexible options for advanced users. With a port multiplier e-SATA connection, you can either connect to a port multiplier JBOD adapter to access multi drives via one e-SATA connection, or connect to a port multiplier RAID controller card. The additional USB connection is for quick hook up to any computer system, which allows users to access up to multi drives at the same time, and best of all there’s no driver installation required. This allows users to organize their music, photos, and work data under one enclosure, making it perfect for backup applications. To power the enclosure, it uses a direct AC outlet, perfect to use it anywhere without having to deal with any adapters. The CFI TOWER V3 series storage acts as a pure port-multiplier which provides SATA port expansion just like a SATA Hub, or hard-drive performance booster which provides a high performance device seen by host controller. These series products architecture which provides: • No driver, BIOS or software required for operation. • Independent of device SATA port connection sequence. 1.2 PRECAUTION Please read the safe precautions carefully before you using CFI TOWER V3 storage series. To prevent data loss or other failures, you must follow these steps when disconnecting your USB3.0 storage device from your host computer system. Once the physical USB device is disconnected, any volumes that are associated with that device will become unavailable. On O/S (Opration Systems), the CFI TOWER V3 must be stopped from O/S before any devices can be disconnected. 4.2.1 WINDOWS SYSTEMS 1. Click on the Eject icon (a small green arrow over a hardware image) in the System Tray located in the lower right-hand side of your screen. 2. A message will appear listing all of the devices that the Eject icon controls. Click on the “Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device” item. 3. The following message then appears: “Safe to Remove Hardware”. You can now safely disconnect the device from your computer. Note: If your host USB adapter does not support this feature, the device should be disabled using the Device Manager or your system should be shut down cleanly and powered off before disconnecting the USB device. 4.2.2 MACINTOSH SYSTEMS You must un-mount the hard disk drive by dragging the hard drive icon to the trash before disconnecting it or powering it down. 4.3 HARD DISK DRIVE HOT SWAP The hard disk drives can be hot swaped while the system is running. However, to avoid data corruption or loss, care should be taken to ensure that the host system is not currently using any drive that is about to be hot swaped. 4.4 LED INDICATIVE STATUS The CFI TOWER V3 series storage provides information on the SATA HDDs, System connection, and Power LEDs. Each LED activity will turn On/Off the LED for approximately 70 ms. the blinking rate is approximately 400 ms “On” and 400 ms “Off”.
