TERM 3 | WEEK 9 Fraction Fun for Braydan We love seeing KSPS students learning new things and last week Braydan from 1/2T came into the office proudly to show Miss Blayden his fractions work. 4 Reptile Park Fun The teachers of Year One would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the parents who joined us at Gosford at the Reptile Park. Every parent came to have a fun day with their child and it really showed. As teachers at King Street we feel really privileged to have such a wonderful group of parents to help us educate your children. It made a big difference to our students to walk around the park with a parent to explain things to them and it made a big difference to the teachers to see each child so engaged and learning as they walked around. Showing how fantastic our parents are one, of them even stepped up and volunteered to hold the 6 metre python (thank you Alison!) Thanks again for being such great people to work with. Thank you, Rosemary Forrest, Kathy Barry and Wendy Tan (Year One teachers) Ella C used lots of adjectives to describe her visit to the park. “Yesterday I saw big, bad, Elvis and I saw a furry, cuddly koala and I saw a slimy, cool frog and a snake. It was big. I also saw an otter. It was fast and fluffy. I saw an echidna. It was spikey and hungry too” We counted and she used 11 adjectives!! Special thanks to Alex’s mum Alison for this wonderful collage of pictures www.kingstreet-p.schools.nsw.edu.au TERM 3 | WEEK 9 Visiting Performance Starstruck 2017 Vocalist Auditions On Monday 7th November our students will have the opportunity to attend the last visiting performance for 2016. The performance is titled “Street Sense” and the cost is $5 per child. Auditions are now being held for vocalists for the 2017 Starstruck performance. Please fill in the permission slip below and return 4 with payment as soon as possible. If you have paid Supercover you do not need to return the note or payment. Starstruck is an annual production which showcases creative and performing arts from students throughout the Hunter and Central Coast region. 3600 students from 170 schools take part in either on stage or backstage roles. For more information and applications forms please see Mrs Tan by Friday 28th October. 2M Meet Jai’s Pet ‘Mars’ Visiting Performance for “Street Sense” I give permission for my child/children: Name……………………………………… On Monday our students from 2M were lucky enough to meet Jai’s pet Bearded Dragon ‘Mars’. They were all so excited to get to touch Mars and Jai taught 2M lots about what to do when you have a pet lizard. Class………………………………........... “I brought in my Bearded Dragon ‘Mars’ to show my class how we pet him. I told them that he can camouflage with the colours on his body. Name……………………………………… Mars will puff his beard out several times when he yawns, this includes when he is bored and under stress. Class………………………………........... Name……………………………………… Class………………………………........... to attend the Visiting Performance Street Sense” on 7/11/16. I have enclosed $5 per student. (PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE PAID SUPERCOVER YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND IN THIS NOTE OR PAYMENT). Signed…………………………………….. (Parent/Guardian) www.kingstreet-p.schools.nsw.edu.au When he gets nervous he will wee on you so that is why we put him in a box with a towel for comfort. They breed in spring and it takes 10 days for the babies to come out. My favourite thing about having a lizard as a pet is putting him on my shoulder and how he climbs onto my head”. Exploring Adjectives with 1F Students in Mrs Forrest's class have been learning how to make writing more descriptive using adjectives. Please enjoy this short film they presented at their assembly demonstrating how adjectives enhance stories. http://bit.ly/1Fadjectives TERM 3 | WEEK 9 ‘Freedom of Entry’ Re-enactment a Hit What to do with an Overload of Boxes??? Last Friday our Stage 3 students were lucky enough to be present for a fantastic re-enactment. Mrs Tan’s class had the answer! It’s all about using your imagination and being creative. 1/2T made The Eiffel Tower, a computer, a farm, a brachiosaurus and lots more. September 9 2016, saw Freedom of Entry granted to Singleton Military Area. This important ceremony marks the 50th year since it was first conducted in 4 Singleton back in 1966. What a wonderful way to finish off the school week. It is the re-enactment of a medieval custom in which troops, on their long crusades through Europe, would ask permission to enter the cities and villages along their travels. If those troops seemed untrustworthy, access was denied. When access was granted, it reflected the trust and respect a village had for the soldiers. It has now become the highest compliment that a town can bestow and very much reflects the wonderful relationship Singleton enjoys with the Australian School of Infantry in our very own Local Government Area. September 9 was a great day to come out and applaud our soldiers and celebrate the relationship we share. It was a day to honour their commitment to our beautiful country and say ‘thank you’. Term 4 2017 Orientation Kinder Transition and It’s that exciting time of year again where we begin to welcome families (new and old!) to our school who will have children starting Kindergarten next year. This year we will be extending our transition program to include one whole day each week in term 4. We are very confident that this program will enhance our ‘Storytime’ sessions and provide the best possible transition to school for the children. Please contact Cindy Judge in the office if you would like more details or would like to enrol your child in Kindergarten 2017. Wellbeing of our Students Valued Please be aware that we have two immunesuppressed students at our school. If your child develops a contagious disease, please let the school know ASAP so we can act accordingly. www.kingstreet-p.schools.nsw.edu.au TERM 3 | WEEK 9 4 Fruit & Vegetables Mick & Chris’s Fruit & Vegetable Store open Fridays & Saturdays over the Railway Bridge on Glenridding Road. www.kingstreet-p.schools.nsw.edu.au TERM 3 | WEEK 9 4 Bunnings Singleton 27th September 9:30am - 10:30am Every child gets a Drawing Activity Book www.kingstreet-p.schools.nsw.edu.au TERM 3 | WEEK 7 4 “The best thing at the stage 3 camp would have been the snow because it was cold and so fun to slide down the hill in the snow” “Canberra was really fun! My 4 favourite things were the snow, Laser Tag, the bus trip and when I slid down on my belly in the snow” By Jackson M By Jack T “We left school at 6.30am on Monday last week to Canberra. It took 6 hours to get to Canberra. When we got there we went to the War Memorial. After that we went to our cabins. On Monday night after dinner we went to Laser Tag. It was fun. We had two goes each for 15 minutes and while we were waiting we got to play in the arcade for free. I liked the dancing games. On Thursday we had breakfast at Jindabyne. After that we went to get our snow gear and then we travelled to the snow. We all had fun at the snow. We had a snowball fight, built snowmen and rolled down the snow on our bellies. I have never been to the snow before. I had lots of fun. I wish I had more time at the snow. I loved Canberra” By Shaavetha M What an action-packed, exciting and fun adventure the Stage 3 Excursion to Canberra was! We managed to completely fill the 4 days and 3 nights away with lots of great learning and life experiences - as you can see from the pictures. I just want to thank all of our amazing students, who upheld the school values at all times. The students did themselves, their families and their school PROUD! Last, but not least a huge THANK YOU must go to all the teachers who attended, you had earned a much needed rest.
