CDAC WINS CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The Carrollton-Douglasville Alumni Chapter (CDAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity, Incorporated continues to make a large impact in the communities of Carroll and Douglas counties. Founded January 5, 1911 on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is
one of the oldest African-American fraternities. continuing the legacy of
its historical fraternity, CDAC was recently awarded the J. Michael Graves
Award for SMALL Alumni Chapter of the Year in the Southeastern Province
which encompasses Alumni and Collegiate chapters in Georgia, South Carolina, and Africa. The fraternity‟s rich legacy is showcased locally through its national service program, „Guide
Right”, which has been a huge success in partnership with the local Boys & Girls Club. This program has
emphasis on career development, academic excellence, and social skills necessary for matriculation into
higher education post high school graduation. In addition to their mentoring program, CDAC continues to
service the community through programs such as “Leisure for Ladies” in partnership with the Atlanta Women‟s
Shelter providing health awareness, hygiene products, dental screenings, self development exercises, and
positive inspiration for over a 125 women and children in transition. The chapter‟s Polemarch (President) is
Christopher Thomas Sr. When asked about the chapter‟s message, Mr. Thomas had this to share: “CDAC is
committed to serving the communities of Carroll and Douglas counties. Our programs and initiatives are
centered on enriching the lives of our children, seniors, and community at large. I am so very proud of the hard
working brothers of CDAC who tirelessly work to carry out the vision of our 10 revered founders. I thank the
parents, community officials, and local business owners who have supported CDAC for the past 7 years. We
share our fraternity‟s highest honor of chapter of the year with you. THANK YOU.”

CDAC Welcomes Our Neophytes from Fall 2011 and Spring
2012, Jermaine Kimble, Curtis L. Coleman, William Judson, and
Clark Payne. Both lines represented CDAC exceptionally well
as Bro. Kimble was awarded Valedictorian for the Southeastern Province Fall 2011 MOIP Alpha Class. Bro. Judson was
also awarded the Valedictorian award for the Southeastern
Province Spring 2012 Beta Class. CDAC‟s Spring 2012 line
also brought home the award for the highest line average of
the Beta Class for both collegiate and alumni chapters. The
accolades must be shared with our MOIP Chairman, Bro. Jonathan Pettigrew, for leading these bothers to the path of
Achievement. Bro. Pettigrew has been CDAC‟s MOIP chairman
for our last four lines and has never failed to deliver A Valedictorian. Kudos to Bro. Pettigrew for his leadership and commitment in educating our newest brothers.
