Area Plan/ County Zoning
• Amendment to the County Zoning Code allowing
agricultural or agri-tourism uses to be permitted with
the special use approval by the Board of Zoning
– Less expensive procedure, takes half the time of a typical
rezoning.
•
Amendment to the County Zoning Code allowing use
of gravel access and parking for certain specificallyidentified, low volume land uses instead of paved
parking
Area Plan/ County Zoning
• Amendment clarifying the classification of residential
reentry facilities or halfway houses for inmates or
former inmates being released from the prison
system.
– This amendment also established parking and spacing
requirements for these facilities, ensuring that they would be
located no less than 1000 feet from any school or day care
center
Area Plan/ County Zoning
• Process for reviewing Minor Subdivisions has been
greatly reduced to 1 week instead of 4-5 weeks
– most minor subdivisions can be approved in house instead
of going through the APC meeting process saving valuable
time.
• Allowance for APC to waive a standard in the
Subdivision Code if the request meets criteria bringing
the process in line with the Zoning Code variance
process

business startup efforts, was named chapter of the
year in Indiana.
Economic Development
Efforts in expansion of our existing businesses,
attraction of businesses, and incubation of startup
businesses are strong.
Securing the IU med school is another star on the
economic development report card.
We need to continue to identify and support the
most promising public-private partnership
projects.
