TECHNOLOGY
The New Technology — Simple. Fast. Safe.
The new STREAMLINETechnology coupling combines
the advantages of a single coupling with those of
a two-hose system. This coupling simplifies the
connecting and disconnecting of hydraulic rescue
tools and saves valuable time at the rescue scene.
Easy Coupling
Clearly identifiable connections
permit simple connection with a
single step. This robust and easy to
handle coupling allows trouble-free
coupling under even the harshest
conditions and operation is quick and
easy, even when wearing gloves.
Connects With or Without Pressure
The new STREAMLINETechnology
coupling can be operated in only
one step even under pressure.
Unlike other coupling systems, the
STREAMLINETechnology coupling has
integrated pressure control valves
which make dump valves obsolete.
Without the need to return to the power-unit to
relieve pressure, precious time is saved and the
rescue equipment is ready for action at any time.
Retrofit Existing Equipment
Existing HURST twin-line hose
systems can be converted to the
STREAMLINETechnology coupling
without the need to acquire a
new hose system.
www.jawsoflife.com
Safety
The new STREAMLINETechnology coupling utilizes the
time-proven twin-line hose system. Any damage to
the pressure or return line can be visually inspected
and the rescue equipment is ready to use at any time.
With a burst pressure of more than 44,900 PSI, this
new technology offers a safety factor of more than 4:1
on both hose lines. The robust design reduces the risk
of malfunction from debris in the coupling.
Performance Under Pressure
The STREAMLINETechnology hydraulic system offers very
high flow rates by using large diameter hose and
permits the use of hose lengths of up to
100 feet without substantial
decrease in power
or speed.

Rescue Rams
R 430
World´s First Triple Stage Rescue Ram
Applications
With its push capacity of up to 30 US tons in the first
stage and 14 US tons in the second stage, the R430
Ram is capable of carrying out the heaviest rescue
operations.
< Traffic, railroad, aircraft, marine accidents
< Building rescue and Disaster Management
< Moving obstacles, lifting loads, creating
rescue openings and stabilizing
With its telescopic design, a retracted length of only
18.9 inches can be extended to 51.3 inches in three
stages. This long working range allows rescue jobs in
one step which would normally require the application
of several traditional rams, in sequence. The duration
of the extrication can be considerably reduced.
Features & Benefits
< Compact, light-weight
< High resistance against lateral load
< Claws on top and base provide firm grip
on flat or oblique surfaces
< Intelligent star-grip control valve provides
access from every angle
< Minimum retracted length and large stroke with
the triple stage design

Splinter Shield
The HURST splinter shield provides reliable protection
from the glass splinters that arise when the pane is
removed for accident victims and is indispensable
for properly rescuing injured patients. Depending on
the accident situation and the condition of the injured
person, it can be used with transparent windows or
with a completely closed surface.
On standard steel vehicle roofs, the splinter shield is
held in place by strong magnets. If the vehicle chassis
is made from aluminum or plastic, a special belt is
provided which tightens the splinter shield with a Velcro
strip. At the lower edge foam has been sewn into the
shield that adheres well and is pressed in between the
windshield and the instrument panel.

Air Bag Safes
HURST Air Bag Safe – the reliable protection
against late deployment of driver´s side air bags
Up to 20 minutes after a traffic accident, nondeployed air bags can unexpectedly be inflated even
with the battery disconnected. The HURST Air Bag
Safe protects both rescuer and passenger from injury
that might be caused by uncontrolled inflation of the
air bag during rescue work. Two Air Bag Safe sizes to
choose from to cover steering wheel diameters from
13 to 15 inches and 15 to 17 inches respectively.
Just place the Air Bag Safe on the steering wheel
and tighten it with straps behind the steering wheel
rim. The device is reusable after each application, but
must be replaced if airbag is deployed while in place.
The HURST Passenger Air Bag Safe protects rescuer
and victim against late deployment of the air bag
during rescue work. The Air Bag Safe is fixed on
the passenger side with easy-to-operate straps.
The time required for set-up the system is
approxmately 1 minute.
Features & Benefits
< Maximum protection of rescuer and patient
< Can be fixed prior to or after removal of the
windshield or the roof
< Short set-up time
< The passenger air bag safes come in a
water-repellent Nylon carrying case and
weighs only 6.6 lbs. / 3 kg.

Protection Covers
Features & Benefits
The HURST Protection Covers protect paramedics,
rescuers and also the victim against injury that might
be caused by sharp edges arising from the use of
hydraulic cutters.
Protection Hoods:
One each will be put over A or B post stump after roof
removal. When fixed with the integrated tightening
strap the hoods will safely remain in the intended
position.
Protection Blankets:
Can be used to cover long sharp edges all around the
vehicle, (e.g. in the roof area). Fitted with powerful
magnets, they can easily be attached to any metal
part of the vehicle.
< Made from extremely wear-resistant Cordura®
(only by DuPont) and Trevira® Complan prevent
water absorption and are easily washable
< Inlaid into the covers are several layers of special
fiber. In contact with a sharp edge millions
of microfibers are compressed so the cover
becomes almost impervious
< An air bolster between the fiber layers gives soft
yet strong protection
< The system is set up in a matter of seconds
< Stays securely in place

Truck Cabin Safety Set
The suspension of modern truck cabins permit
maximum joint travel and effectively balance out
vibrations. During rescue work after an accident, any
kind of movement may have a negative influence on
the condition of the patient. Any movement made
by an involved vehicle must be avoided to effectively
remove the patient.
The HURST Cabin Safety Set
eliminates the movement
effects of the driver cabin
suspension by tying it down.
Furthermore, it will secure
the cabin if the safety
locking mechanism has
been damaged or broken
due to a crash. The driver
cabin safety mechanism can
be hooked into holes in the wheel rims on both
sides and tightened with a ratchet. A loop can also
be laid around the front axle section.

QuickStrut™
Features & Benefits
The Quickstrut safely supports vehicles involved in
an accident, whatever their position. The struts are
positioned diagonally at an angle of between 25 and
50 degrees. The car body is fastened to the ratchet
strap with a hook. When the strap is tightened, the
claws of the swivelling top plate press into the car’s
bodywork. The base plate affixes itself to the ground
and can be additionally secured using pins.
< Easy handling: the robust design simplifies work,
even under the most adverse external conditions.
Mud, soil, sand and water don’t affect the
functionality of the system.
< Maintenance free: it doesn’t require any regular
maintenance. It just needs to be freed of any
external debris after each use.
Extending and retracting the strut is very easy;
simply push the release lever. The length can also
be manually adjusted. An integrated winch enables
additional fine aligning.

Rescue Lifting
& Stabilization
TECHNOLOGY
H1 & H2
MSM-2D
With the HURST lifting sets H 1 and H 2 all types
of lifting and stabilization work can be carried out
quickly and safely. The cylinders are made of
strong yet light-weight metal.
One power unit, two applications– lifting and rescuing with hydraulic power
In a number of rescue situations
loads have to be lifted prior or
parallel to the application of
cutter, spreader or rescue ram
(e. g. when subway coaches,
trucks or buses are involved in
an accident.)
H1
Operation of lifting jacks:
Once the mobile field manifold
is connected with the power unit, two HURST
telescopic jacks with a capacity of 25 tons each can
additionally be operated.
Operation of rescue tools:
On the second hose pair a rescue tool can be
connected. A TRIMO power unit allows to connect
another rescue tool.

Telescoping Cylinders
HURST Telescopic Cylinders are made of
a strong yet light-weight metal alloy and
are corrosion resistant. With their superior
design, they combine an extremely long
piston stroke with a short retracted length.
Telescopic Cylinders require more oil
than rescue tools. For operation of two
HP 25/T 450 R cylinders a P 640 series
motor pump is a must.
Prior to the operation of Telescopic
Cylinders each motor pump should be
topped up to the maximum possible of
hydraulic oil level.

Stacking Sets
If there is only space for short-stroke
cylinders below a jacking point, the
total lifting height can be increased with
Stacking Sets by up to 5.9 inches. The
increase of the lifting height results from
the amount and heights of the Piston
Plates and Stacking Rings.
Hydraulic Hoses
Special hose sets with an
integrated “quick-stop“ safety
coupling to sustain a lifted load
even in case of hose rupture.
High Pressure
Stacking Set for HP 10/T and 25T consists of:
4 Stacking Rings - 2 in. (50 mm)
3 Piston Plates - 2 in. (50 mm)
1 Piston Guard - 0.7 in. (17 mm)
1 Fork Lever
5.9 in. (150 mm) max. extension of stroke
Total weight: 18.5 lbs. (8.4 kg)
Base Plates
Base Plates increase the cylinder base
for more stability. We recommend base
plates with all lifting operations.
