PHILIPPE PARRENO MARQUEES DANNY THE STREET, PALAIS DE TOKYO, PARIS, 2013 SOLARIS CHRONICLES, PARC DES ATELIERS, ARLES, 2014 PHILIPPE PARRENO MARQUEES PALAIS DE TOKYO, PARIS, 2013 For his large-scale solo exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in 2013, Parreno created a new marquee for the entrance. On one level of the exhibition space he combined seventeen individual marquees to create Danny The Street. The name refers to an omniscient street, a fictional character from a comic book. The individual works were programmed so that the light passed from one marquee to another. 3 PHILIPPE PARRENO MARQUEES PALAIS DE TOKYO, PARIS, 2013 Marquee, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 Translucent acrylic glass, transparent polycarbonate, Pyrex glass, sodium lamp, light bulbs 546 x 295 x 57 cm Private collection 4 Danny the Street, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 with Marquee, 2013 (centre) 5 Marquee, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 Opaque Plexiglas with interior steel supportive structure, lightbulbs, with quartz lamps inside 122 x 300 x 40 cm (PP 206) 6 Marquee, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 (PP 206) 7 Danny the Street, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 8 Danny the Street, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 9 Marquee, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 Translucent acrylic glass, light bulbs, neon tubes 180 x 305 x 112 cm Pinault Collection 10 Danny the Street, 2013 Installation view at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013 11 PHILIPPE PARRENO MARQUEES SOLARIS CHRONICLES, PARC DES ATELIERS, ARLES, 2014 An installation of marquees is part of Solaris Chronicles, curated at the LUMA Fondation by Parreno with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Liam Gillick at the Atelier de la Méchanique at the Parc des Ateliers, Arles.
