These Klima climate glazing products were originally developed for use in facades with a glass coverage of more than 50 percent in order to optimally meet the applicable requirements for summer thermal insulation. Energy-intensive operation of air conditioners during hot summer months is a thing of the past. Our Klima climate glazing is therefore particularly suitable for facades with a glass proportion of more than 50 percent. In the colder seasons, the low Ug value of SEMCO KLIMA and SEMCO KLIMASTAR provides a comfortable room climate. Long-wave heat radiation is reflected back into the room. n ectio Refl tion ec Refl Total energy transmittance (g value) A considerable proportion of the solar energy falling on the glazing is already reflected away by the outer pane. The rest of the pane construction reflects so much of the remaining energy that just 19 to 37 percent is allowed to pass through the panes. Secondary heat output through absorption SEMCO KLIMA 700, 600, 500 / OPTIMALLY SUITABLE FOR: Private, commercial and public buildings such as schools, office buildings, hotels, etc. Buildings with a glazing proportion of over 50 percent • • Technical data on Page 32 KLIMA CLIMATE GLAZING 06 SEMCO KLIMA / SEMCO KLIMASTAR BE CONVINCED BY THE COLOR NEUTRAL TRANSPARENCY In comparison to conventional solar protection glazing, SEMCO KLIMA gives you a completely clear and faultless view of objects. However, temperatures can develop in transitional and summer months that can make a longer presence in such places unbearable. In addition, textiles and wood surfaces are pitilessly exposed to solar UV radiation and even plants are unprotected from burning lens effects. Living under glass becomes a relaxing event, even in high summer, with the climate glazing SEMCO KLIMA and SEMCO KLIMASTAR. Our Klima climate glazing is also equipped with high UV protection so that the plants and interior decorations remain unaffected. Both product groups meet the requirements of the Energy Savings Act. They can be used in lowenergy and passive houses as they permit a lot of energy into the building but not back out again. Are you planning a facade with a glass percentage over 50 percent? Then SEMCO KLIMA or SEMCO KLIMASTAR are the perfect products for you [cf. P. 04]. Ug VALUE: THE SMALLER, THE BETTER Heat transfer (Ug value) Reflection Long-wave heat radiation outside inside The Ug value indicates how much heat in a room is transmitted to the outside through glass with a surface of 1 square meter and a temperature difference of 1 Kelvin. The EnEV 2009 requires Ug values of 1.1 W/m²K for glass (new building reference value). This value is undershot by SEMCO KLIMASTAR with Ug values of up to 0.4 W/m²K, setting new yardsticks in climate protection and energy savings. SEMCO STAR _ Felix Nussbaum Museum, Osnabrück This keeps the cold out The thermal energy of solar radiation is optimally utilized and, thanks to a low Ug value, the warmth remains in the building. Results are achieved that are comparable to the use of solid wall building materials. Unpleasant drafts are a thing of the past as the pane surface does not radiate the cold. So, high comfort is guaranteed, even directly next to a window. Our triple glazing SEMCO ENERGY is also available with g values of over 60 percent. Ask your consultant. Depending on the architectural visual requirements, the choice lies between neutral, blue, bronze, green, silver or gray reflective glass. An individually elegant, aesthetically colored and reflective facade can be achieved through different color gradations of the tinted glazing and different reflection strengths. Brilliant and modern surfaces are shown by SEMCO SUN and SEMCO SUN REFLECT, for example, when used in STRUCTURAL GLAZING facades where they can meet the requirements of modern architecture for almost completely seamless glass facades [cf. P. 19]. The facade is not just visually brilliant: The excellent thermal insulation with a Ug value of 1.0 W/m²K also meets the highest of requirements. Incidentally: If you are planning a facade with a glazing proportion exceeding 50 percent and you also want a fully neutral view through the glass, then SEMCO KLIMA or SEMCO KLIMASTAR are the ideal products [cf. P. 04]. Semcoglas provides silence. The noise stays on the outside with tested sound insulation glazing. SEMCO PHONE offers the appropriate glazing for various noise sources – whether for buildings on heavy traffic routes or in the neighborhood of discos and airports. Semcoglas can resolve small and large noise problems with a wide range of sound insulation glazing. Securely and effectively. SEMCO PHONE can, of course, also be combined with the appropriate climate, thermal insulation, solar protection and safety glass. For complete protection at all times inside a building. 13 Against the racket While the sound insulation index Rw does not sufficiently take into account the various noise spectra in buildings caused by different sound sources, the definition of noise insulation using the spectrum weighting values C and Ctr provides more meaningful statements. During the evaluation, data can also be determined on how the component behaves with regards to various types of sound. Noise situations: C Operational noise, emitted mainly in the medium and high-frequency range (e.g. motorways, trains at medium and high speed, low-flying jet airplanes) Ctr Operational noise, emitted mainly in the medium and low-frequency range (e.g. urban traffic, trains at low speed, high-flying jet airplanes, disco music) A selection of our sound protection glazing and their evaluated sound insulation index Rw (C; Ctr) can be found on Page 34. It is also suitable for fall protection in the correct glass applications according to TRAV (technical rules for the use of safety glazing). These rules are issued by the German Institute for Construction Engineering (DIBt) and taken into consideration in all Federal states by the supervising building authorities. Semcoglas has a „General building inspection test certificate“ (AbP) for safety insulation glazing (double and triple) in the TRAV categories A, C2 and C3. The minimum configuration is CSG8-0.76 / PIS10 / CSG6-0.38. This can be expanded by a middle pane for triple glazing configurations. It can be produced with safety glass or even float glass. If glazing is produced according to the AbP, then the impact resistance is proven according to TRAV. This avoids the necessity of experimental tests or approvals in individual cases! Numerous easy options The individual glass panes in the composite safety glass SEMCO SAFE SENTRYGLAS® are bonded together with SentryGlas® intermediate film layers. A wide-ranging field of applications is made possible by the resulting high stiffness. Larger dimensions and less weight are just two of the advantages that this product offers in comparison to composite safety glass using PVB film as an intermediate layer. SEMCO SAFE SENTRYGLAS® opens up new architectural possibilities for architects and construction engineers. Is it new or old? The viewer can only guess where windows are placed with functional glazing and where wall elements are used with SEMCO COLOR. ‚STRUCTURAL GLAZING‘ was developed over 25 years ago in the USA. With its filigree, flush-mounted appearance, this structural configuration is preferentially used in representative entrances, stairwells and facades of office buildings. In addition, the lack of transverse and longitudinal profiles means that such facades are extremely easy to clean. Flush-mounted dry glazing in horizontal section Flush-mounted dry glazing in vertical section Wet sealing in horizontal section U-shaped dry glazing in vertical section All Semcoglas functional glazing can be combined with a matching facade panel so that we, as a certified STRUCTURAL GLAZING partner, can guarantee a facelift that can show its face anywhere. P. 22 ] POINT-FIXED GLAZING SEMCO POINT 19 Perfect and to the point Floating facades and transparent lightness of design: The advantages of clear glass facades are clearly pointed out with SEMCO POINT. Thanks to this excellent system, large surface areas can be realized without frames. The fittings are flush-integrated in the panes with countersunk holes or combined with disc holders through cylindrical glass bores. The main point here is that: The point-fixed system is equipped with an articulated holder whose rotation point lies within the glass plane. SEMCO POINT is so simply relaxed: Forces that occur are directly diverted into the sub-structure. The intrinsic weight of the glass pane does not therefore cause any additional stresses in the holding area. The thickness of the glass can be reduced to a minimum. SEMCO POINT makes brilliant facade design possible through perfect technology. We also even offer a system with optimal grip for canopy systems and full glazing systems such as glazed passages, waiting rooms or public transport stops. Only the highest of precision throughout the entire production line can guarantee the high quality of our float glass. Our plant can be rightly said to be one of the most modern glassworks in the world. COATING Coatings, e.g. with silver and metal dioxide, can specifically influence the properties of glass. These materials have a high transmissivity in the visible spectral range and a high reflectivity in the infrared range. In addition, metal oxides with a high refractive index are applied for antireflection. 29 BLANK The material glass requires a lot of know-how, secure handling and state of the art technology. Our experienced specialists ensure perfect results are achieved for blanks, rounded and canted edges, cut-outs and model panes with the use of state of the art CNC technology. A comprehensive stock of float and cast glass, together with design and special glazing, ensures rapid processing of orders. We can meet diverse requirements with precisely dimensioned blanks and process these into high-quality glass products. SPACER Hollow profiles made of aluminum, stainless steel, plastic or TPS (Thermo Plastic Spacer) are used as spacers. The two panes in insulation glazing can be held at the required distance in this manner. Desiccant is stored in the metal spacers. TPS in contrast does not need additional desiccant; such a warm edge system enables a more uniform temperature distribution over the glass surface and ensures that energy losses are minimized along the edge areas of insulation glazing. SEALING In the last step, the individual glass panes joined by a spacer are initially sealed circumferentially with Butyl (primary seal). The term Butyl stands for a specific butyl rubber recipe that is produced through the polymerization of polyisobutyls (PIB). Following this butyling, the insulation glazing panes are sealed (secondary sealing) with a sealant, generally based on polyurethane or polysulfide. Some of the main properties of Butyl are the very high gas and water vapor impermeability, while the sealing material is primarily used to secure the stability of the insulation glazing pane and hold the Butyl cord in place, in addition to its sealing function. The standard edge connector height is approx. 11 mm. 30 QUALITY AND APPROVAL MARKS The careful selection of high quality preliminary products, the use of environmentally-friendly materials and modern technology, the constant qualification of the employees and systematic in-house and third-party monitoring from production to delivery all ensure uniform quality of Semcoglas functional glazing for windows and facades. High quality standards are a prerequisite for high customer satisfaction! The following quality and approval marks are evidence of Semcoglas quality: CE certification Semcoglas verifies conformity of its produced multi-pane insulation glazing and safety glazing with the requirements of the European product standards. The respective initial type tests required for this purpose and the compulsory factory production control (FPC) are implemented in all production factories. In order to guarantee our customers a high quality standard over and above this, the FPC and the relevant standard product tests in the individual insulating and safety glazing works are subject to voluntary third-party monitoring by an independent test authority approved at European level, for example: Information about the CE marking of our standard products can be found on the Internet under www.semcoglas.com/ce. All relevant performance features are listed there in tabular form, sorted according to the respective product. We can draw up a CE declaration of conformity for you on request for special insulation glazing and safety glass configurations. Ü mark (German mark of conformity) - legal requirement Semcoglas declares with this mark that its products also conform to the legal national requirements for insulation and safety glazing, in addition to the CE mark. 31 DIN EN ISO 9001 – Systematic quality This mark documents that Semcoglas is monitored according to the guidelines of the quality management system set out in ISO 9001:2008. A continuous improvement process (CIP) is implemented on this basis, with the aim of optimizing working sequences in all operational divisions and maintaining uniformly high quality of products. RAL - a valued quality mark The RAL quality mark identifies those products and services that are produced according to high specified quality criteria. The quality and approval specifications of the Gütegemeinschaft Mehrscheiben-Isolierglas (GMI - Association for thermal insulation glass producers) are met by Semcoglas. These include primarily a tolerance for the Ug value ≤ 0.1 W/m²K and the emissivity of the coatings of ≤ 0.01. In addition, independent third-party monitoring of production is implemented. „No RAL-tested window without RAL-tested insulation glazing!“ KOMO – certified quality on site The KOMO mark is a guarantee for an above-average insulation glazing standard in the Netherlands. The latest quality requirements of the Dutch foundation „Building quality“ and legal specifications are thereby met. They include regular product testing and third-party monitoring by the KIWA Product Cert GmbH. DS - Certificeret Semcoglas is certified and monitored in compliance with the Danish Standard (DS) with this approval mark. Product tests are implemented and ongoing production monitored by an external body. SP - Sveriges Provnings- och Forskningsinstitut The P mark signals Scandinavian customers that Semcoglas is also subject to constant monitoring within the framework of the SP certification. This includes strict product tests and third-party monitoring by the Swedish testing and research institute (SP). Benor - Certificat Semcoglas is certified with this approval mark in compliance with the Belgian standard requirements by the BCCA (Belgian Construction Certification Association). Product tests and two third-party monitoring production inspections per year are implemented. VdS - certificate Glazing with alarm systems and the relevant production factories are certified and monitored by the VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH. The corresponding requirements regarding production of the alarmed glazing - whether insulation or safety glazing - are met here by Semcoglas. DIN EN 356, data in brackets: Minimum resistance class for glazing as per DIN EN 1627, Issue Sept. 2011, Table 1 Resistance class as per DIN EN 1063 and DIN EN 356 GLOSSARY Ug value g value 35 Unit of measurement for heat loss of glazing. The smaller the Ug value, the better the thermal insulation. Ug values determined for vertical installation as per DIN EN 673. For physical reasons, the Ug value of insulation glazing increases dependent on inclination angle when installed at an angle. Unit of measurement for total energy transmittance through glazing. High g value: Additional and free thermal use of sunshine. Low g value: Reduction of summer heating of rooms due to sunshine. Light transmission Degree of light transmittance in percent. Indicates the percentage of visible light (for the radiation band between 380 nm and 780 nm) that can pass through the glass and is therefore dependent on the glass thickness and coatings. The higher the light transmission, the greater the daylight utilization. Degree of light reflection Ra value The percentage of visible light (for the radiation range from 380 nm to 780 nm) that is mirrored or reflected on the glass pane surface. A high degree of light reflection means a reduction of glare inside the room. The general color reproduction index Ra describes the color impression that the human eye has when viewing an object illuminated by daylight coming through glazing. With clear glass, Ra is 99%. Shading coefficient (b-factor) Rw value Facade panels Average transparency factor of solar energy, based on the total energy transmittance of a double glazing insulation glass, used to calculate the cooling load of glazed rooms. Shading coefficient (b factor) = g value / 0.80 (VDI 2078) Value for the sound insulation. The higher the sound insulation value, the better the sound insulation. In addition to the sound insulation value, the frequency of the sound source is taken into account with correction factors (C; C (C; Ctr) for good noise insulation. Facade panels made of enamelled glass matched in color to the glazing. As color impressions are subjectively evaluated, sampling is recommended before specifying the glazing. The facade panels are mainly used to cover blank sections on buildings, e.g. ceilings. Glass thickness measurement The person ordering our products is responsible for ensuring the correct measurement of glass thickness, depending on the application, according to the applicable technical regulations and standards. • Combinations with different glass thicknesses are possible. • Dimensional tolerances, see DIN EN 572-8 • Tolerance for the emissivity of the coatings: + 0.01 (as per RAL quality criteria) • Tolerance for the Ug value: + 0.1 W/m²K (as per RAL quality criteria) • Tolerance for the g value: ± 0.02 (as per RAL quality criteria) • The functional values given here for the glass products were determined with calculation software validated and certified by ift Rosenheim (Test Report No. 41041462). The data for the software was based on functional values on standard structures determined according to the relevant and currently valid test standards by correspondingly accredited test institutes. Formats and combinations deviating from this can lead to a change in individual functional values. • The light and radiation-related physical data are calculated or measured values that may fluctuate by ± 2 or 3% depending on the glass manufacturer and the glass thickness, as well as unavoidable production tolerances. The data shown here are therefore subject to change. With more than 20 sites in three regions across the nation, Semcoglas is one of the leading complete suppliers for architectural glass. The Service centers in the individual regions are closely networked with our application engineering and product development sites.
