2018 Interhash Magazine - Interhash 2018
Message from EGM & Chief De Mission
Dr.Ram Raju ( SDC)
I have been relentless in my pursuit to bid for Interhash Fiji
as it is:
- Time for a change, let’s go elsewhere.
- Fiji has a lot more to offer than just runs
and beers.
- It’s getting monotonous hashing in Asia.
- Fiji has glorious beaches, clear blue skies,
and stunning landscape.
- Fiji is God given Hash Kingdom.
I’m not exaggerating the least bit to win you over. We
want you to experience much more than having few
beers and food at the runs or walks. Fiji should be
considered a destination for any
hasher in their lifetime.
We promise to outclass any of
the previous Interhash events.
You will be mesmerized and spellbound by
the beauty, the magnificence, abundance of
great hash running territory combined with
great warmth of the people and you will
wonder why Fiji was not considered
decades ago.

MESSAGE FROM HM PACIFIC HARBOUR HASH
Many of you will have already heard the expression ‘Fiji – the
way the world should be’. We told you that at Interhash 2010
and you knew we’d lied because we’d just had another coup –
so you didn’t vote for us.
Message from
THE PRIME MINISTER
Republic of the Fiji Islands
RT Hon Commodore
Frank Bainimarama
We told you that again in 2012 and again you knew we’d lied
because we’d just had a cyclone – so you didn’t vote for us.
We told you that once more in 2014 and you thought we’d lied
because we’d done it so often in the past – so you didn’t vote
for us.
Well, this time it’s 2016 and if you don’t vote for us then
obviously you’re perhaps insane. Only an insane would turn
down the chance to visit Fiji.
But if you’re some sort of deviant that doesn’t like running
presumably you’re still enough of a hashman that you enjoy
your beer – in which case Fiji’s the place for you as it has the
best beer in the world. Don’t take my word for it - let the
experts have their say. . .
Fiji beer, the most important aspect of any interhash
anywhere, is so good that the 2018 Fiji Interhash will be
memorable. Memorable? Ok we lie. If local hospitality is
anything to go by then the Fiji 2018 Interhash won’t be at all
memorable because if you drink enough Fiji Bitter, you quite
simply won’t have any memory of the weekend at all. And for
those who think they’re able to handle their beers , don’t
forget that Fiji’s 2018 Interhash will be organised by a bunch of
doctors who have unfettered access to stocks of pure alcohol.
So rest assured that not only can you expect great things from
an Interhash in Fiji but, if great things don't happen, at least
you’ll have been too drunk to remember.
For those of you who go to interhashes for the actual runs,
you’ll have a chance to participate in some of the most scenic
and toughest runs on the planet. The international Eco
Challenge 2003 was held in Fiji and saw more teams drop out
of that event than any other eco challenge. So if you’re into
ball breakers, rest easy in the knowledge that you’ll be taken
care of. We haven’t lost any hasher permanently. Yet. But that’s
not for want of trying as the last ball breaker had some of the
pack out in the jungle for 15 hours. However our gentle side
means that we also have runs easy enough for 87 year old
World War 2 vets to participate in.
Come to Fiji in 2018 – you won’t be disappointed.

Dear Hashers,
I’m honoured to write a few words in support of Fiji’s bid

the hashers in Fiji have got together to make a strong

My government fully supports the bid and will ensure

days. I follow them closely as Suva is the Capital City!
Fiji is the place to be for any international event and we
have more to offer in terms of warmth and hospitality
and a great countryside, clear blue skies and sandy
beaches and above all we are the friendliest nation in
the world.

Chairman,
Inter-Hash Fiji 2018
Nadi Hash House Harriers
Dear Sir
Re: Fiji Hash House Harriers Bid for Fiji Hosting of
Inter-Hash 2018
The Fiji National Sports Commission is tasked to
“provide coordination, direction and support for the
development of sports in Fiji and to establish higher
standards of excellence in all sports delivery.”
I can think of no better way to achieve this than
through our support of Fiji Hash House Harriers in their
bid to host in Nadi, Fiji, the 2018 Inter-Hash.
Sports Tourism is acknowledged as contributing to our
economy and Governments, and the Commission
commitment is evidence by the support given to a
number of International sporting events being hosted
in Fiji currently and over the next few years.
Nadi as our nations Tourist capital is well positioned
with its large number of internationally recognised
hotels and facilities to welcome and accommodate the
estimated 5000 athletes and supporters.
Message from Mr Shalendra Prasad
Public Relations Officer
Nadi Chamber of Commerce & Industry
Bula and welcome to Fiji.
For a very long time people have had the
perception that Fiji is a land of Sun, Sea and
Sand. This however is not a true description of
our beautiful country of 330 islands. We are
definitely more than the three 'S's' our visitors
have been referring us to with.
Fiji is blessed with some of the most spectacular
natural terrains leading to mountains and rivers
which remain untouched and unpolluted to this
modern era.
Our air and water is the cleanest you may find in
the world and not forgetting our beautiful
people who are the friendliest you will ever find
in the universe.
Please rest assured that the Sports Commission will
work with Fiji Hash Harriers, our community, stake
holders, and your International organisation to ensure
a successful 2018 Inter-Hash should you be granted the
rights to host such a great event.
We manage a smile even in adverse conditions
and welcome our visitors with open arms. This is
just one reason Fijians were voted as the
happiest beings on earth recently.
Should you require any further information or
assistance in your deliberations, please do not hesitate
to contact the undersigned at any time.
I can personally assure, that none of you will
ever bet disappointed visiting our beautiful
isles, this goes for our first time visitors and
returnees as well.
Yours sincerely in sport,
Peter Mazey
Executive Chairman
Fiji National Sports Commission.
Hoping to see you all in the Interhash 2018.
Believe me, you will not want to return home
after that because Fiji is where happiness finds
you.
Happy Hashing!
Fiji Independent Travelers and
Backpacking Association
Bula Hashers,
Fiji Independent Travellers and Backpackers Hotel
Association (FITBHA) which is based in Nadi is quite
happy to lend support to Dr Raju and his team who
are bidding to host Interhash Fiji in 2018. We are
aware that they tried to win the bids in the past but
perhaps it was a blessing in disguise to lose for 2
important reasons namely:
1. 2018 will be 21st Anniversary. For you to celebrate
this special occasion in Fiji will be historical;
2. Budget Accommodation. There’ll be more than a
thousand beds available for low budget travelers or
the backpackers in Nadi. Coupled with more than four
thousand beds for the upmarket travelers (3-5 star),
Nadi looks forward to be the place to be for all your
hashing needs.
I’m a keen hasher myself and we have played host to
many international hashers in the past and we look
forward to welcoming you all to this beautiful setting
in Nadi. FITBA with more than 50 members will be
able to offer more special rates for this occasion and
I’ll be happily sitting in the MMM committee headed
by our ever hard working Chairman, SDC.
SDC has a proud record of organizing successful
Nashash events apart from X-Mass and other special
get togethers in the name of Hash in the last 30 yrs.
We are really excited and rallying to provide all the
necessary help and support to ensure that you’ll
never regret the decision to vote for Fiji. We’ll make
extra special effort for the 21st Interhash in Fiji and
you should make that little extra effort to register and
come ashore for the lifetime experience. Remember
you only live once!!
