PHILADELPHIA - 54th General Council of the REC We all arrived safe and sound on American soil last Monday. The flight was a little bumpy and since our arrival it has never stopped raining! The large hotel complex called the Normandy Farm Hotel has several outside Chalets of which I was in one; a large double bedded room. On Tuesday we met at the REC’s seminary for talks with the PNCC and the REC about the future path that they and the FCE may wish to travel. ST ANDREW’S CHURCH The Seminary is for residential and distance learning students. Here is their small but very nice Chapel. Here is Bishop John with Bishop David Hicks, Bishop of the Diocese. They pictured outside the Seminary. The REC have also just purchased the large next door building and announced the launch of a 5 million dollar appeal. Bishop Paul is looking forward to moving to Scranton for a look at the PNCC churches and especially their cathedral. Bishop Paul will be back (DV) on Monday. He’ll tell you all about it then. Sorry about the colour, but the plastic roof was pink! There were about 250 gathered for the opening Holy Communion service with a choir form the local Reformed Church schools. The preacher was the Rt Revd Keith Ackerman (President of Forward in Faith, North America and retired Bishop of Quincy. A special Doctor of Divinity was presented to Bishop Duncan by Lord, we pray for Pamela, Chrissie, and great grandson Finley. Lord, we put the following friends and congregation into your hands: Mary, Julie, Jean, Hilary, Pam and Elizabeth. We bring Betty & Colin before you, Lord. Keep them safe. Lord, thank you that Arline is keeping much better. Please pray for Iris and Alan with Alan’s deteriorating health. Thank you, Lord, Dan’s Nan, Dot, is much better. May it continue. Pray for Audrey who battles on with her mobility difficulties. Lord, we pray for Carole as she improves following an operation. Pray for Doris who continues to suffer with her sciatica. Remember too Doris (who sits with Sheila) who has been unwell. Thank you, Lord, for all the worship team Nigel, Colin, Paul and Mark who look after all the services, while Bishop Paul’s away. Pray for Jean’s husband, Al as he continues his cancer treatment. Continue to pray for Doreen who is a little better. Pray also for Jimmy’s Ukrainian family. Pray for Steph, Lucy’s carer, as she is almost done with her treatment of Chemotherapy. Her last session is next week. Give thanks that John Haynes is continuing to improve. Pray for the family of Sharon Webb, who was 54 years old. Her funeral took place recently at Sandwell Valley. Pray also for the family of Heather Marie Walker-Jordan who passed away on the 4th May, aged 54. Her funeral took place on Friday 6th June in Church. Pray for her husband, Paul and children - Anthony and Christina. Pray for the family of Stanley Wilfred Woodhouse. His funeral takes place at Bushbury Crem on Thursday 19th June. Pray for travelling mercies for Bishop Paul, Bishop John and the Revd David Craven as they return form Philadelphia tonight. DANIEL’S DAY WEEKLY NEWS & PRAYER SHEET the retiring Presiding Bishop, the Rt Revd Leo- Last Sunday Daniel took the service at St Jude’s Church in Walsall. Daniel also led the ‘Our Family’ service. What confidence he found and how wonderful Daniel found the strength from the Lord to do this. They all loved him and want him to speak to them again. No, he didn’t wear robes. The photo on the right was taken months ago. Perhaps it was very prophetic? nard Riches. This very pink photo shows the European representatives of the REC. You may recognise Bishop Gerhard Meyer and Bishop Jasmin Milić. David Craven is on the left. He is new to the FCE and is duel licensed by Bishop John and the C of E.
