Passive sampling has been chosen for monitoring the concentration of substances in surface water. POCIS (Polar Organic Compound Integrative Samplers) have been deployed in the shrimp ponds on two weeks to quantify five antibiotics and one pesticide. Calibration sampling rates for three compounds (trimethoprim, sulfamethoxazole, atrazine) have been calculated, ranging from 0.16 to 0.77 L/day. Five sampling campaigns of two weeks each have been conducted in two different shrimp farms in Long An and Can Gio. Samples have been analyzed using liquid chromatography combine with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Rsults shows the use of sulfamethoxazole and the probable use of trimethoprim in Long An, at concentrations below 1 μg/L. At Can Gio, sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacine and trimethoprim were detected, with particularly high concentrations for ciprofloxacine (some samples reaching 3 μg /L). The increased economic, industrial and domestic development had serious consequences in the quality of the environment. Consequently we settled a long time survey with a high frequency sampling to estimate (i) the impact of the megacity on the trace metal contents in the river, (ii) the role of hydrological conditions and (iii) physico chemical parameters properties of the river. The developing Megapole HCMC has an impact on trace metal contents in the River. However, the physicochemicals characteristic of the river control partly the distribution and partitioning of trace metals.
