MU Student Center Project Student Affairs – Opportunities to Learn and Lead From where the students live and eat to where they study and interact with one another. Student Affairs provides Mizzou students with the programs, facilities and services that support academic achievement, personal growth and community involvement. Growth and learning extend beyond the classroom into all facets of university life, so quality facilities and resources are critical to enhancing student success. The Heart of Mizzou Brady Commons Evolution 1985 Brady expanded to the Built in1963, Brady Student Commons was intended to serve as a recreation space for campus of 15,000 students. Students Wanted More From Brady 1991 - Study identified lack of student organization space, lack of lounge space, lack of dining space 2000 - Students continued to say that Brady Commons didn’t have enough space, which led to a master plan process 2002 - Over 200 students participated in focus groups east, adding student organization/ student life space and student service and support operations. 1996 expansion to north side increased space for bookstore Over 10,000 people used Brady each day but the building just couldn’t meet the growing needs our students. Project Timeline In 2005, in the largest turnout in MU history, students passed a referendum to increase their students fees in support of expanding and renovating Brady Commons.
