Student Affairs – Opportunities to
Learn and Lead
 From where the students live and eat to where they study
and interact with one another. Student Affairs provides
Mizzou students with the programs, facilities and services
that support academic achievement, personal growth and
community involvement.
 Growth and learning extend beyond the classroom into all
facets of university life, so quality facilities and resources are
critical to enhancing student success.
The Heart of Mizzou
Brady Commons Evolution
 1985 Brady expanded to the
Built in1963, Brady
Student Commons was
intended to serve as a
recreation space for
campus of 15,000
students.
Students Wanted More From Brady
 1991 - Study identified lack of student
organization space, lack of lounge space,
lack of dining space
 2000 - Students continued to say that Brady
Commons didn’t have enough space, which
led to a master plan process
 2002 - Over 200 students participated in
focus groups
east, adding student
organization/ student life space
and student service and support
operations.
 1996 expansion to north side
increased space for bookstore
 Over 10,000 people used Brady
each day but the building just
couldn’t meet the growing
needs our students.
