are also cultivating our future service,
parts and sales managers – ‘home
grown talent’ we like to call it!
Simon
Chadbone
started
his
apprenticeship at Middleton Stoney
in 1995 and then worked at our Stoke
Mandeville depot until 2001. Simon
returned back to Middleton Stoney
before moving to Bicester when the
new Turney-Agriforce division opened.
In the 17 years since Simon joined us
in the workshop he has progressed
through the company becoming the
Service Manager at Bicester.
Martin Tyler served his apprenticeship
at our Chipping Norton depot starting
in July 1996. Martin moved to our
Wellingborough depot in 2001 and
subsequently became the Service
Manager for the busy workshop at
Middleton Stoney in July 2008. Martin
works alongside Tim Tyack, Harvest
Service Manager at Middleton,
who incidentally also joined the
Turney Group on an apprenticeship
programme in 1978.

Fieldforce
Mr Evans has around 1200 acres near
Towcester in Northamptonshire. Up
until this year, Mr Evans was unfamiliar
with New Holland tractors but that
all changed in July this year. He
took delivery of a brand new Tier 4A
compliant T7.200 tractor supplied by
Turney Fieldforce.
When we spoke to him, he had put
around 200 hours onto the machine –
mainly corn carting and rolling behind
the drill. His T7.200 is complete with
New Holland’s advanced SideWinder™
II armrest with IntelliView™ III monitor
to which actually improved the already
excellent visibility.
It’s an extremely quiet cab - probably
the quietest tractor I’ve ever driven. If
I open the hatch it doesn’t make much
of a difference as the tractor itself
seems very quiet. Overall, it’s a more
comfortable ride than I’m used to - the
only way that you know that the cab
suspension is working is by looking at
the exhaust stack!”

“It’s a modern-looking tractor and the
layout in the cab is great. The controls
are all in the right places making it
extremely easy to operate. Not familiar
with the New Holland controls, we
had to learn from the ground up but it
didn’t take long at all to figure out what
everything did and I was converted
very quickly! Everything was in the
right place from the joystick to the
remote valves. I also found that the
seating position is higher than I’m used
“Having to use AdBlue looked like a
tedious job but it’s really easy. I was
expecting to fill up on a ratio of one
tank of AdBlue to every two diesel
fills however, the AdBlue seems to
last forever! It doesn’t take more than a
few seconds to fill up and when we were
working this summer, we are using
a ratio of no more than 1:4 AdBlue
to diesel!”

Mr Evans lives in an area with a lot of
steep hills and with a 16 tonne corn
trailer on the back, he was impressed
with the way that the tractor performed
on the road. The T7.200 is rated at
155hp but can increases to just under
200hp through the engine power
management.
“The CVT Gear Box just sorts itself out
and the tractor punches well above its
weight. It’s also a lighter machine which
means it responds very quickly and
this will become even more important
when we get into the fields next spring
with our 3 and a half tonne variable
rate Amazone spreader. We also have
to go over a weighbridge when we’re
delivering produce into stores. With
the tractor being a tonne lighter than
the one in the next class up, I can
maximise what I put in the trailer and
still be within legal weight limits.”
We asked Mr Evans for his overall
opinion of his T7.200. “It’s a super
tractor and I have to say that it’s turned
into my machine of preference - if
there’s a choice in the yard I jump on
the New Holland one!”

Ninety years on, Case IH has resurrected the Farmall name for its new range of sub
115hp tractors. A total of 15 different tractors split across the 3 Farmall U, Farmall
C & Farmall A series should mean there’s something for every prospective buyer.
The Farmall A range consists of six 65 - 113hp models is all about economy
and efficiency, with tractors that feature simplicity of operation. The Farmall C
is a completely new series spanning the 55 to 75 hp range, designed for use in
livestock farming, specialist crop work and tasks where its compactness and light
weight are a bonus.

Farmall U - The 100 hp bracket all-rounder
The Farmall U Series has been designed from the start as an all-round and
cultivation tractor, featuring a new 3.4 litre common rail engine, incorporating a
Wastegate turbocharger and intercooler and an external EGR system. There is a
choice of 95, 105 and 115 hp models.
Transmissions can be tailored with a 12 x 12 Powershuttle as standard, and an
optional 24 x 24 Powershuttle with two-stage powershift for more driving comfort. In
addition, a 20 x 20 Powershuttle with creep speed is an option. There are further
improvements and performance enhancements at the rear. Maximum lift capacity
of the electronically-controlled linkage is up to 5,400 kg, with fingertip operation of
all key functions, including float, transport lock and maximum hitch height.
The front end of the Farmall U tractor has also been revised, and for the first time
in this power bracket, Case IH makes available a front hitch. Steering and linkage
performance are improved and the load on the front axle is minimised by locating
the hitch as close as possible to it. A front PTO is optional.

Turney Groundforce supplies Continental Landscapes with
Ransomes Equipment for Leeds City Council Contract
Jacobsen, for the majority of this contract. We have used
the HR3300T out-front rotary on other contracts in Poole,
Liverpool, Hounslow and Cherwell and they have performed
exceptionally well.”
Continental Landscapes, the national grounds maintenance
contractor based at Weston-on-the-Green in Oxfordshire
took delivery of a fleet of Ransomes Jacobsen commercial
mowing equipment in March this year from their long-time
dealer Turney Groundforce, to support their newly-won
contract for Leeds City Council.
Tom Dew, Continental’s national plant manager added;
“We worked closely with Ransomes Jacobsen during the
initial design stages and subsequent field testing of the
HR3300T some five years ago. It has been a significant
workhorse on numerous contracts and I’m confident
it will continue to deliver the quality of finish that the
residents of Leeds would expect.
The fleet, with a retail value in excess of £650,000, was
delivered for the start of the 2012 season in early March,
and consisted of 19 HR3300T out-front ride-on rotary
mowers, 10 ZT zero turn pedestrian rotaries and three
HR6010 batwing rotary mowers.
“Not only have we worked closely with the manufacturer,
we also have a very credible working relationship with the
Turney Group. The support we receive from the team at
Turney’s is first rate and they are a significant partner to
our business.”
Mark McLaughlin is Continental’s operations manager,
managing the contract from three depots located across
the city. “To fulfil this contract and provide best value to the
residents of Leeds we must have equipment that gives us
