MAIN DESCRIPTION
This amazing Three bedroom detached former 17th
century bakery really is full of wonderful surprises. It is
a true juxtaposition of old with new, where you will
find the renovated historic building plus a new
modern interior and extension, decorated in Farrow
and Ball throughout. The recent additions have been
well thought out and sympathetic to the original
building, taking into account the textures and colours
and the feeling of space. The glass and timber
extension forms a light filled area that opens out onto
a wraparound deck, really bringing the outside in and
enjoying views over adjacent fields. The use of cedar
timber cladding that ages and changes colour when
exposed to the elements, is a throw back to traditional
timber cladding on the original building, plus the
continuation of the roof with matching tiles ensures
that the building is finished as a whole.
Inside, the period features are fantastic- notably the
roof timbers and rustic doors, while the brick fireplace
is perfect with a large hearth and cast iron hood. To
make the house as light as possible, the walls and
floors have been white washed, whilst preserving the
colours of the beams. It is not surprising that the
house has been entered for an award and featured in
number of magazine/supplements.
Outside the theme continues with a similar timber
and glass detached studio/office finished to the same
specification as the extension, situated in the garden.
Further to this is a detached garage block and studio,
with the permission to convert to create additional
accommodation.
DINING ROOM Main front door leads into the
dining room. Washed oak floors and bright walls
complement the beamed ceiling and the hand made
staircase to the upper floor. The main feature of this
room is the grand brick built fireplace with cast iron
hood and grate. There is even the original bread oven
from the bakery!
KITCHEN The vaulted ceiling provides space for
hanging pots and pans, while shaker style units are
simple and elegant. There is space for a stainless steel
range size cooker and plenty of storage in larder style
cupboards. You also have the double sided cold store
cupboard that is also accessed from outside. A nice
flagstone floor finishes off the room.
LOUNGE In stark contrast to the older part of the
property, the lounge is the section of the home to
feature crisp lines and great attention to detail. Full
height powder coated doors fold back to open up
one wall to the great outdoors, all so easily accessible,
as the decking has been designed to meet the interior
wooden flooring and carry you outside. Hidden
storage is important and there are flush fitting
cupboards to keep everything tucked away out of
site. The vaulted ceiling allows magnificent light fittings
to be displayed as a feature.
BEDROOM THREE A versatile room with doors that
fold back open out onto the deck. Fitted wardrobe
cupboard finishes the room.
SHOWER ROOM Completely modern shower
room with high quality fittings and full height tiling.
LANDING Small landing with doors to the bedrooms
and access to a good size storage area with restricted
head height.

MASTER BEDROOM A split level mix of old world charm and clean,
efficient lines. A window looks out over the rear garden and the fields
beyond, plus in the new part of the room the window folds open to
enjoy the views! Hidden cupboards make the most of the eaves storage
space and gives plenty of room for tucking everything away out of sight.
BEDROOM TWO In part of the original house, this double room is full
of character and features such as an Inglenook chimney breast and
stripped wooden floors, plus a lovely beamed wall and part vaulted
ceiling.
STUDIO/OFFICE Complementing the house, the studio is built using
cedar wood and glass, making the workspace light and bright, plus you
can have a view of the garden and the fields beyond. To finish the area off
there is a small decked area outside.
GARAGE BLOCK At the end of the garden is the garage block plus
additional studio/storage space, which is a good size and has the potential
to be converted to further accommodation, subject to the necessary
planning.
DRIVEWAY There is a shingled driveway for two cars leading to
the garage.
GARDENS There is a good sized, well stocked rear garden which opens
out onto the field beyond. To the front of the property there is a store
and this area leads around to a further decked patio area outside the
kitchen. There is also a small wooded area beyond the garage with
several fine ancient Oak trees.
