The Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) seeks to appoint a
Governing
Board-engaged
Faculty Consultant for an initial period of one year, starting
October 2012. The tenu~e of service of the Governing Board-engaged Faculty Consultant is
fixed to a maximum ,of three years, s'ubject to yearly renewal on satisfactory performance
evaluation and mutual consent.
CPSC is an inter-governmental human resources development organization mandated to
assist in the improveme,nt of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems
in its member countries in Asia and~ the Pacific region through training & development,
research & development, ICT, policy advisory and project development & consultancy. The,
17 member countries of CPSC. a.re: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Rep. of
Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongoliai Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Nepal, Islamic.
Republic of Pakistan, Papua New GuiQea, the Philippines, Republic of Singapore, Sri Lanka
and Thailand. CPSC seeks the interest of qualified professionals from its Member Countries
with relevant background in the general areas of technical ed~c'ation, technical teacher
training and research, entrepreneurship development, curriculum development, TVET skill
development,
education
for sustainable
development,
educational
technology
and
management.
Qualifications Criteria
Specifically,
the applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria

technology (knowledge in renewable resources and/or Green IT an advantage), educational
management and training, .and skills for the informal sector and the disadvantaged. He/she
must be able to contribute to the design, development and coordination of regional, incountry, and customized training programs and conduct other projects and activities as may
be assigned.

'He/she must have a Master's degree in technical/technology education, engineering or in
any related field of study, must be fluent in oral and written English, with the ability to work in
a multi-cultural environment.
T~e compensation package includes an annual salary of US$12,OOO and fringe benefits
which are tax free in the Philippines (for expatriates only), travel expenses on first
appointment and on expiry of contract, minimum housing allowance, medical insurance and
vacation and sick leaves, in accordance to the prevailing policies of CPSC. Detailed

The,concept of PIPIE was formulated and developed in 2004 mainly to: app~eciate and develop awareness

respective areas of studies; provide platform for acquiring practical work ;experience
related to their
academic background
or future work in the field/s related to CP.sC thrust areas; and increase the
understanding
of interns on relevant and emerging issues in TVET in their country and/or at Asia Pacific
regional level through programs

A PIPIE applicant must be a citizen of any of the CPSC member countries, at least a Bachelor's degree
holder and a graduate from a reputable university, preferably with specialization
on any of the following
.fields: technical and vocational education and training (TVET), Information Communication
Technology (ICT)
or related fields, management,
technology education, social science or allied areas, or with Diploma in
EngineeringfTechnology
with at least 3 years or equivalent of professional: experience in industry and/or
TVET institution
He/she must be between 20 to 35 years old. proficient in the E,nglish language .(basic speaking and writing
skills). computer literat~. open to learning and with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
A monthly allowance of US$200, meals, accommodation
in the CPSC hostel and other services (subject to
availability of facilities) will be provided by CPSC. Cost of travel-related expenses, such as return airfare,
visa application fee (9E Multiple entry), passport, travel insuranc;e and medical certificate/insurance
will have
