Finca Los Tuneles is the smaller
of the Chavez family’s two farms
and is dedicated to the production
of organic coffees. The name
“Los Tuneles”, meaning “the
tunnels”,
is
taken
from
the 3 stone tunnels that cross through the farm.
These tunnels are used to distribute some of the
waterflow from the two major rivers of the region.
In addition to managing the farm, Don David is also
the president of the COMSA Cooperative. The Coop
supports small, local producers in the Marcala region
by providing milling, financing and technical support.
