PINE ISLAND RV RESORT
OKLAHOMA PINE ISLAND RV RESORT Fishing, festivals and outdoor fun in the Oklahoma Ozarks T ucked away in the Ozark foothills of northeast Oklahoma, you’ll discover Pine Island RV Resort, a Coast Deluxe property with more than a mile and a half of shoreline on Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees. A popular recreational hub for boating, water-skiing and wakeboarding, this massive reservoir is world-renowned for bass fishing. Don’t leave home without your trusty fishing pole, because you can cast for white bass, catfish and crappie from Pine Island’s own fishing docks. Bring your boat, and you can launch it from the resort’s ramp. Early risers catch spectacular sunrises on the back deck of the clubhouse, named Eagle’s Nest for the bald eagles that roost nearby. No matter when you wake up, you can spend the day hiking on the forested trails or take it easy at the indoor and outdoor pools. In the evening, gather ’round one of the community fire rings for campfire stories and s’mores or sit in on a game of cards or bingo at the clubhouse. It’s easy to keep occupied on Pine Island’s sprawling 147 acres. Check out a putter, paddle or Frisbee at the office for a lively round of minigolf, ping-pong or disc golf. Get a game going at the horseshoe pits or the volleyball, basketball or tennis courts. While the little ones explore the playgrounds, send the older kids to the activity center for foosball and air hockey. You can reserve a rental cabin or park your RV in one of 175 full-hookup campsites. Whichever you choose, make sure to tap into the resort’s free Wi-Fi to stay in touch. There’s an on-site laundry room, and you can stock up on grocery staples and souvenirs at the store. Visit in July to sample the Huckleberry Festival in the resort’s hometown of Jay or stay in September for the Grove Pelican Festival. You can hit the fairways at four local golf courses, smell the roses at Lendonwood Botanical Gardens or take a sightseeing cruise on the Cherokee Queen riverboat. Just 20 minutes from Pine Island, Grove hosts an impressive pioneer-era museum, Har-Ber Village. Floyd Baker, board president of the member-owned resort, extends a hearty welcome to Coast to Coast members and says you’ll be impressed with the improvements made under Pine Island’s new manager, Tony Gourley. 24 CO AST TO COAST DIR E CTORY 2014 LOCATION: Jay, Oklahoma RESORT TYPE: SEASON: Coast Deluxe Year-round WEBSITE: pineislandrvresort.com GOOD SAM RATING: 8.5/8H/8 Member Services: 800-368-5721
