J A X R A M B L I T N We gather at G Tom’s and Sumiko’s RV to discuss the important topic: breakfast. 2 James knows where the nearest Cracker Barrel is. So we depart to once again to have another meal. 3 At Cracker Barrel, there are so many choices. Each of us can have our favorite meal. It may take a while T 3 to arrive, but the wait is used for lots of table talk. S A M S C H A P T E R 3 0 T 1 2 Y 1 The Yearouses arrive after the noon hour. Glenn gets real sweaty as he tries unsuccessfully to use the roof antenna. The ground mount has a clear view of the southern sky for Christine’s satellite programs. Terry’s camera made their small RV look bigger. 2 The meeting room has good air conditioning. So we gather for puzzle work and some discussions. Y 3 3 This is the finished Early Bird puzzle. The water J U L Y pieces must have been hard to sort out. A few of our members use the building of a puzzle as a way to talk in a smaller group. We do have some members that are nearly an expert in pattern recognition. The puzzles are solved indoors in an air conditioned space. Could the cool space also be a cause for the interest in puzzles? 3 2 0 1 3 Saturday, 18TH Y Y Christine has her morning walk as the ground fog Glenn finds an eagle not in the roost. Those outside pieces are easy to find, but not always in the correct location. 2 The business meeting starts and Ann is reading her minutes of the last meeting. 3 Laverne Toivonen’s son, Ron and his wife, Karen, arrived (with breakfast rolls) for a short stay as they 3 Y 4 JULY 2015 are going south on I-75 to Ft. Myers. J A X Y After the business meeting, most of us head out to the Flea Market adjoining the campground. A few men may not have looked forward to the hot walk around in the much smaller market. R A M B Y L The displays show a different selection of goods for I a different set of customers. Spanish-style of cloth- N ing is displayed and many items from the Dollar G Store are available at an increased price. S A M S Y After lunch and, maybe, a few naps, we are again in the cool meeting room. The black glob in the corner is a tree plant. C H A Y P James has the Yearbook on display at each camp T out. Tom and Ann are looking the new pages over. E James spends a number of hours each month on it. R 3 0 Y 1 2 Y 1 Glenn tries to sample some of each item on the long supper table. There was enough food for another meal remaining after we have finished. 2 We are scattered about in this large room. J U L Y 3 That night this configuration of the moon and planet are seen. The Muslim symbol is nearly presented tonight. What year was the alignment that Y 3 they use? The second earth shadow can be seen (if the printed is able to note the difference). 5 2 0 1 3 Sunday, 19TH Y The Yearouses departed early. They had breakfast on US-441 at Huddle House, and then went to Jacksonville to met with Grandson, Chris. There are no pictures of the chapter departure from Eagle Roost RV Park. Campground Atlas For Jax Rambling Sams #30 Glenn has developed a table found on the last page (after the Camping Schedule on page 9). This is an example of a style that could be used for this chapter to list campgrounds within our radius of travel. The data presented is about five years old from an old list that Glenn had on a portable computer. That list was about camping places, not necessary for RVs. The State Parks are from an old list of parks in our area. The listing is limited to an area of about 130 miles from Jacksonville. This old listing has 75 entries! The order of the table is based upon distance of travel. The list can easily be changed to an alphabet order. Some of our members may have up-to-date information about this short list. If those changes are given to Glenn, the table will be changed. Is this a resource that the Chapter would want to use for selection of campgrounds? If so, Glenn can complete the whole table and make a PDF file and E-mail table to those persons who would want the complete list. A full table will be provided at the August camp out. This is not a current list of locations that could be of interest. There will be a number of blank rows for differeft entries at the end of this old listing. Some towns have a yearly event that could be of interest for our chapter to travel to for the regular or for a special event camping. Some town have: a strawberry festival, a craft fair, a steam engine ride, a BBQ Cookoffs or a celebration of the town’s history. That information would be in the Remarks Column with dates, when provided. Editor’s Notes There are months that the newsletter has a unused page, after that months camp out information has been placed. The available page could be used to provide biographical information about our members. The prime use would be to have the current host provide their information. The Editor would desire to have an extra biography ready for use. The Editor will not provide any personal information (sickness, family activities) that was not a part of the camping experience without that family approving of that text entry. 6 JULY 2015 J A X THE PRESIDENT’S BOX — JULY 2015 Welcome members of JAX Rambling Sams, Chapter 30 (JRSC-30). The members that could attend the June Camp Outing at Eagles Roost RV Resort in Lake Park, Georgia, had a nice camping experience, with R A M B L I N G large shaded lots and easy access to restaurants. A plus was having Camping World directly across the expressway. I would like to thank Tom and Sumiko Davis for hosting this outing. They provided London Broil for our evening meal with many of the attendee’s bringing a side dish. I believe all the chapter members enjoyed the evening meal. The kitchen and recreation area were very spacious and allowed for the evening games with room to spare. The kitchen would have been easier to use by the cooks if there was a stove in place. For the Friday evening grill out, we used the outside grill and covered pavilion. Even with shade it was hot! On Friday morning, the group decided to have breakfast out at Cracker Barrel. On Saturday morning, S A M S Bob Shumaker and Sandra Walters were in charge of the breakfast. The pancakes and sausage were AWESOME. Saturday morning at 10:10 am., JRS-30 had a business meeting to discuss and vote on several topics from our previous meeting. 1. First order of business was to recognize two members July birthdays. Laverne and Terry were C H A P T E R given a song by the members to celebrate their respective birthdays. Laverne’s son (Ron) and his wife (Karen) were present to wish her a happy birthday. They were traveling and had to leave soon after. 2. Two camping trips were briefly discussed. The Walters planned a trip to Pigeon Forge in October and it falls on a our normal camping weekend. A motion was made and passed to make the Walters October trip as one of our camp outings. All members are invited to participate. The second trip to Panama City, Florida, at St. Andrews State Park in December was presented by the Taylors with an invitation to all. This is not a club camp outing, but just a fun trip. 3. A nominating committee was established to develop a roster of people who desired to be 3 0 considered for all of our officer positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Wagon Master. The committees consist of Christine Yearous ( Chair ), Tom Davis and Frankie Zubor. 4. The nominations committee will submit the names of those interested in any office. The election will take place during the August meeting with nominees voted on by the chapter member. The elected member will be installed during the December meeting at Kelly’s RV Park. 5. Frankie Zubor has been in contact with the Wounded Warriors group. At this time, they will have a representative on site, Saturday, at our August meeting at Kelly’s J U L Y Overall this was a very nice campout. The camp personnel were all friendly and helpful. Many restaurants were around the area. The Flea Market next door made it a place to search through other peoples junk for a lost treasures JUST A REMINDER: When traveling with a group or alone there is great value in having a CB Radio. Even a hand held unit makes it easy to communicate with the group. This also gives you access to road conditions and accidents ahead. Our chapter normally communicates on Channel 13/14. FIRST LADY COMMENTS: We enjoyed having the Walters and Yearouses camping with us again. I want to thank Sandra for giving me a break in the kitchen Saturday morning. Hope to see everyone at the anniversary campout next month. Uniforms are not required. 7 2 0 1 3 The Wagon Master’s Log for June, 2015 JAMES WALTERS 2015 — Caravans tentatively scheduled are: August 13, 2015 - Kelly’s - Callahan, Florida No planned caravan for this campout.
