anolher one for projectors other than Ballantyne.
THIi CONSOLE ilcorporaLes a horizontal bulb xenon larnphouse,
an interference coared, deep el1ipse, rnetal reflector designed to operate at
33-l/B inches frorn the projection fikn plane and an adjustable rnounting arrn
cornpatible rvith rnost soundheads and projectors.

SERVICE Al{D MAINTENANCE
access doors and one rernovable si.de panel. Interlock switches at each of the
three doors insure operator safety, and key Locks assure access only to authorized personnel. A11 electrical cornponents are protected by a built-in, prewired circuit breaker panel.

either one or both of these switches will interrupt the A. C" control circuit and
prevent ignition of the xenon bulb.

THE XEIJON BULB has high inlernal pressure.
Therefore extrerne care should be taken when handling the butb. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
To rninirrrize any danger, the f ollowing r ule s should

SYSTEM
INSTALLATION
THE EXilAllsT STACK of the consoLe larnphouse is designed to fit
an eight inch diarneter duct. This size duct rnust be used throughout the entire
systern and installed to elirninate any possibility of downdraft or rain dripping
on the xenon bulb.
The exhaust fan rnust be capable of rernoving 700 lineal
feet of air per rninute.
A rnini.rnurn of 650 Lineal- feet is ::equi.red to actuate
the larnphouse exhaust air vane switch.
IF iT IS NECESSARY tolirnit the air f1owthrough the exhaust systern, install bypasses rather than darnpers. A darnpered exhaust systern will
notadequately rernove the ozone generated by sorne xencnbulbs.
This gas can
be injurious to health if inhaled in heavy concentration for prolonged periods.
Do not install the xenon bulb until the exhaust systern has been correctlv adju sted.
ONE DRAFT GAUGE is enclosed in an envelope attached to this
rnanual. The gauge is designed for 700 lineaL feet per rninute. Follow the instructions for use printed on the gauge. If the exhaust systern holds the clraft
gauge when the larnphouse access door is closed, it is rneeting the air flow
requirernents.
AN trXlIAUST SYSTEM that has proven effective for 150 arnpere
c a r l : o n a r c o p e r a t i o n w ' i 1 l -b e s u i t a b l e f o r t h e x e n o n i n s t a l L a t i o n p r o v i d i n g i t h a s
been thoroughly cleaned and tested with the draft gauge to verify the draft is
rneeting the 700 lfrn requirernent.

TURN THE PROJECTOR rnechanism by hand (inchi.ng knob or flyrwheel) to clear the shutter blades frorn the aperture.
Open the changeover
,louser and fire shutter and fix thern in the open position.
This can be done
rvith a rubber band, paper clip, or tape.
OPEN TFIE LAMPHOUSE access door and instalL the string aJ.ignrnent kit as illustrated.
Make certain that the cord is tied off secureJ.y behind
the alignrnent bracket before opening the douser and runr:.ing the cord into the
projector head.

hinge pin in the correct hole (seerrBulb Chartrr, Hinge Pin Positiol).

with a Bli35 "V" block and a 81336 alurninurn cathode blocl< spacer rnounted in
front of the catnode adjusting casting.

Place the positive terrninal against the nut rernaining on the
connector and replace the flat washer, lockwasher and nut in that order.
Tighten securely to prevent the connection frorn overheating.

A XENON BULB can be focusecl to a srnall hot spot at the aperture
or projection lens and if this is done the filrn rnay be darnaged or tire projecttion lens broken.
The projector rnust be running whenever the bulb is ignited
and the douser is open. Adjust the focus of thebulb in relation to the reflector
to obtain a flat field, with the corners of the screen evenly lighted. It is possible to obtain nearly lA0Tocoverage. Check the filrn for darnage or high ternperature and if lunning hot, reduce the current at the bulb or adjust the focus
for a flatter field.

OPERATION:
The projection booth exhaust syatern rnust be operating
the air vane interlock switch in the larnphouse exhaust stack.

When the switch in the AC line frorn the power source is ON, the
red indicator on the larnphouse will glow, indicating that the 115V. AC control
circuit to the console is energized.
The power supply access door, the lamphouse access door, and
the rear access door interlock switches rnust be closed to cornplete the circuit
to the "LAMP ON" swilch.

NORMAL
OPERATION:
When the "LAMP ONil switch is pressed ON, the power supply is
energized, supplying a high DC voltage charge to the igniter.
This voltage
will range frorn 85 to IZ0 V. DC, no 1oad, depending on the type and setting of
the xenon powel supply. This voltage is necessary to ignite the xenon bulb.
The igniter has a polarity sensing device that deterrnines polarity
is correct before energizing the voltage level sensor and tirner circuit.
This voltage is then applied to a tirner circuit in the igniter which
actuates a relay to turn the R.F. pulse section of the igniter on and off. This
tirned circuit is one second Oll, two - three seconds OFF.
When the bulb ignites, the DC voltage drops to normal bulb operating voltage. The voltage sensor in the igniter stops operation of the tirner
circuit and the R. Il. pulsing circuit.
The igniter is equipped with a norrnal-ly open push button switch
(S102, Ernergency Ignition S.vitch) to bypass the tirner circuit and the polarity
