WELCOME LETTER
Welcome Athletes to the 2013 Life Time Tri Oceanside Championship/
Toyota Triple Crown!
I am thrilled to have this inaugural event in the place that I call home. The City of
Oceanside, volunteers, military and staff are ready to show you their hospitality for
this championship race.
Athletes will get to swim in the quaint Oceanside Harbor, exit out of the harbor
to ride on the fast & flat SR 76, yes we are shutting down a part of the highway
just for you! Then dropping down into Transition 2 (T2) near the Oceanside
Pier to run along the beautiful beaches on Oceanside Strand finishing with a
spectacular view of the pier!
I would like to thank the City of Oceanside, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton,
and Coast Guard Auxiliary for supporting this race and granting us permission to
use their resources.
I hope you enjoy your stay here in our little beach town and are well rested up for
an exciting day where “A Champion Will Be Crowned”!

PRE RACE
Everyone wants to get acclimated to conditions of the race and check out the
course. Please do so with safely while taking into consideration Oceanside
residents going about their regular lives. There is no swimming in the harbor
except on race day. Feel free to go to the beach side of the harbor and swim at
your own risk. Do let family members know where you are and wear a brightly
colored swim cap.
While there is no riding on the SR76, prior to the race, you may ride the bike path
that runs along a similar pattern. When riding on the roads, stay in the bike lanes
whenever possible and be courteous to other cyclists as we have many out there.
Also, abide by the rules of the road.
Feel free to run the entire run course. Reminder that it is a busy area so take a few
measures to keep yourself from getting hurt and be sure to stop and take in the sights.
As you are one of Oceanside’s invited guests, please respect and obey the traffic
laws during your training. Violators will be cited. You are required to carry proper
identification at all times. If you are stopped, you must present your identification
to the inquiring officer. Failure to do so may result in race disqualification. Your
cooperation is appreciated.

EXPO & REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK UP
Expo, Registration and Packet Pick up will be on Saturday, Oct. 19th at the Betty’s
Lot (238 The Strand N, Oceanside, CA, 92054) on The Strand. Take Mission Avenue
off the I-5 and head west. A variety of parking options are available but adhere to the
parking fees wherever you choose. The parking structure on Cleveland and Seagaze
is free. Expo hours are 10am - 5pm
GEAR BAGS
You’ll receive two gear bags at registration:
• Black Dry clothes bag
• Red Bike/Swim Gear also known as T1 (Transition 1) gear bag
Dry clothes bag is for your non-race essentials such as dry clothes, hotel card,
car keys (put small items into a zipped baggie) etc. that you will need at the end
of race. You’ll drop off your dry clothes bag at the south end of the harbor before
you start your swim, just south of the Bike Out inflatable and to your right if you
are facing south. You will have your bike/swim bag staged at your bike spot in
T1. When you come out of the swim, be sure to put your wetsuit, goggles, swim
cap and any other swim materials securely into your T1 bag (red bag) so it can be
transported down to T2 (Transition 2) for pick up after this split transition race. We
highly recommend you label your wetsuit with your name & cell number. Anything
that is not securely put into the red T1 bag is not guaranteed to be collected.
Please do not bring bike pumps or personal tri bags up to T1 as they will not be
accepted nor transported down to T2. Leave personal tri bags with your bike to
run gear at T2 check-in which can be done Saturday or race morning before you
head up to T1. We will have bike mechanics in T1.
OPTIONAL GEAR CHECK IN
Saturday, October 19th athletes may check in their run gear(personal tri bag)
early at the T2 between 10am - 5:30pm This is optional as T2 will also be open
race day morning.

on this road will be towed. Park in appropriate spaces as any illegal parking will
be ticketed. Adhere to red curbs, handicapped and non-marked spaces. Shuttle
busses for spectators to get to the Harbor area will pick up in front of the Regal

checked at T2 the day before, it can be checked in on race morning at 4:30am and
T2 will close at 6am Please give yourself plenty of time to set up your transition
and to get up to T1 which will open at 4:45am and close at 6:35am Transitions are
secured so only athletes with wristbands will be allowed inside.
If you’ve lost your chip or swim cap, head to the timing tent located near the swim start
for a replacement. Bike Mechanics will be located in the middle of T1. Body marking

The bike course will exit out the north end of T1 and head around the harbor village
to the tunnel under Joe’s Crab Shack. Caution as this is a sharp right turn and there
are two speed bumps. Head out to Coast Highway to SR 76. Flat and fast as you will
do an out-n-back for two loops for the International distance and just one for the
Sprint distance. Returning to Coast Highway then going down Cleveland Avenue
surrounded by quaint row houses then dropping down under the train tracks. This
is another sharp right and is a no passing zone. Due to this area having a painted
surface, it will be carpeted. Coming out of the tunnel, veer right around the metal
sculpture but be ready for a quick left after the sculpture onto Myers towards T2.
