local religious and secular festivals. These cultural traditions date back to medieval times, the renaissance, Albrecht Dürer,
royal personalities such as Sissi, King Ludwig II. and the artists` circle of Blauer Reiter.

Munich - one of the top European travel and business destinations
Munich`s Italianate architectural splendor and old-world charm adds a Southern European touch to the city. The Bavarian
capital with more than 100 theaters and museums and a multi-ethnic community offers a very vivid cultural life. The annual
Oktoberfest with more than six million visitors during sixteen days has turned into a global trade mark. The city is home of
BMW, MAN, Siemens and many high-tech and IT-companies. And it`s just a stone`s throw away from the beautiful Bavarian
Alpine scenery.
Come and explore Munich, enjoy its international atmosphere as well as the great many genuine Bavarian locations and
restaurants in town and, please, allow for some time in the enchanting countryside.
The Royal Tour (3 Day-Program)
Neuschwanstein – Linderhof – Ettal – Berchtesgaden – Königssee – Chiemsee
Day 1
Find out about the myth of King Ludwig II, the most enigmatic of the Bavarian kings. Known for his affinity with extravagance and fine arts he
was called “The Fairy Tale King”. Herrenchiemsee and Linderhof castles are considered as his top architectural achievements. Neuschwanstein
is the best known and, regarding its setting, most spectacular of the royal Bavarian castles. Our route will take you through the beautiful Upper
Bavarian landscape offering you a great many impressions of the marvellous Alpine scenery. Visit of the Wieskirche. This church is a highlight
of Bavarian Baroque architecture. Afternoon drive to Linderhof. It is the most intimate of Ludwig`s castles. In the Grotto Venus you get a glimpse
of the King`s affinity with the operas of Richard Wagner. Overnight in the area of Ettal.
Day 2
Monks in early medieval times founded Berchtesgaden that became famous by its salt mines. It retained its present day character of a small
Alpine town enclosed on three sides of majestic mountain chains with the Watzmann rising up to 2700 ms. The boat tour Königssee, one of the
“beauties” among the many Bavarian lakes, aboard an electric powered boat is a special experience as no noise interferes with the still mountain
scenery around the lake shores. Overnight in or near Berchtesgaden.
Day 3
Options for the morning program: Tour of salt mine or for those interested in WW II history a tour of Obersalzberg and the Kehlstein. We will
continue to Chiemsee, the largest lake in Bavaria and by the locals called the “Bavarian Sea”. After lunch you will visit Herrenchiemsee, just a
short boat trip from the west bank of the lake. In medieval times the monasteries of Herrenchiemsee (gentlemen`s isle) and the nearby Frauenchiemsee (ladies isle) were hotspots of christianization in the region. King Ludwig bought Herrenchiemsee in 1873 and laid the foundations
of the castle that later was called Bavarian Versaille. Free time for a walk across the tiny isle. Return to Munich.
Chiemgau and Salzburg (3 Day-Program)
Chiemsee – Herrenchiemsee – Frauenchiemsee – Salzburg – Traunstein – Tegernsee
Day 1
We will reach Chiemsee by a 1,5 hours drive 110 km east of Munich. With weather conditions allowing you will catch fine views of the marvellous
Alpine scenery. Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria and by the locals called the “Bavarian Sea”. You will visit two islands a short boat trip from
the west bank of the lake. In medieval times the monasteries of Herrenchiemsee (gentlemen`s isle) and Frauenchiemsee (ladies isle) were
centers of christianization in the region. King Ludwig bought Herrenchiemsee in 1873 and laid the foundations of the castle that later was called
Bavarian Versaille. Following our guided tour we will continue to the Fraueninsel and have lunch at a genuine island guesthouse there. Enjoy a
walk across the tiny and very charming isle where you can find unique art galleries and fishermen`s huts door to door. Historically a top highlight
is the Romanesque Benedictine monastery, still the home of nuns of the Benedictine order who nowadays very successfully manage seminar
facilities. Overnight in the area of Chiemsee.
Day 2
We continue our journey to Salzburg. The magnificent Baroque city is world famous for its grand music tradition. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
spent his childhood and youth there, the town seems to reverberate with his work. On our leisurely walking tour we pass through Getreidegasse
where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756. After visiting a historic Mozart site you are free to enjoy a lunch break at one of the coffee
houses or have lunch at one of the local restaurants. In the afternoon you choose whether you want to visit medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress,
some of the churches of Salzburg, e. g. the Benedictine Abbey of St. Peter or join a tour of Hellbrunn Castle with its marvellous trick fountains
(famous for its Christmas market!) in the South of the city center. Overnight in the Salzburg area.
Day 3
This morning we visit the town of Traunstein near Chiemsee. Guided tour of the brewery Hofbräuhaus Traunstein dating back to 1612. After
lunch we continue to Tegernsee. It is one of the many beautiful lakes that you will find all over Upper Bavaria. Here you may want to go on a
boat tour, take a walk or enjoy the atmosphere in one of the local restaurants. We will be back in Munich within an hour in the early evening.
Winter days in Munich and Bavaria
Bavarian winter months offer excellent opportunities to experience the beauty of the season in the alpine nature and scenery. Many
villages and towns reveal attractive options for all kinds of activities including well known thermal spas. While in Munich try one of
the many ice skating locations or watch the teams compete in curling on the frozen central canal at Nymphenburg castle. Within an
hour you will reach many walking trails for leisurely winter hikes near Tegernsee, Schliersee or around the frozen lake of Spitzingsee.
Enjoy breaks at traditional, cozy inns and alpine chalet restaurants. Visit the Berchtesgaden National Park for unique experiences such
as a torch-light hike or a horse sleigh ride. And what about joining a tour in a horse carriage if you prefer to “stay on wheels”? You
might want to try your talent in a cross country skiing course or see one of the ski touring or sledding events such as at Gams Alm
near Ehrwald in the area of Garmisch Partenkirchen. And last, but not least, venture for an overnight stay at a genuine Bavarian guesthouse in the countryside.
