Mission Green The Neighborhood House Tarrytown, NY Usha Bist Kevin Jeon Michele Rafferty OBJECTIVE To create a garden in a senior center which will empower the seniors and offer them recreational and emotional involvement while being an example of sustainable, water-wise cultivation. PLANNING • Materials • Tools • Time • Methods SUSTAINABLE GROWING • The Lasagna Method • Drip- feed Bottle • Natural Pesticides • Organic Material • Soil An Herb and Vegetable garden of perennial herbs that can be used for teas, lemonade, etc. and are highly ornamental and fragrant. Challenges INTEGRATING Other groups in that organization, like the painting group, the cooking group, are assisting us with the planting process. ONGOING CARE 1. Seniors taking care of the garden 2. Cornell Coop Ext. Master Gardener Program 3.
