Our Venue today... The AVIVA Stadium
The Aviva Stadium is a world class sports stadium with a capacity for 51,700 spectators (all seated). It is
built on the site of the former Lansdowne Road stadium, which was demolished in 2007, and replacing it as
home to its chief tenants: the Irish Rugby Union Team and the Republic of Ireland football team.
The stadium, located adjacent to Lansdowne Road railway station, was opened in May 2010. The stadium is
Ireland's first, and only, UEFA Elite Stadium and in 2011, it hosted the Europa League Final. It also hosted
the inaugural Nations Cup, as well as the regular home fixtures of the national rugby team, national football team and some home fixtures for Leinster Rugby from August 2010 onwards.
The stadium is controlled by the IRFU and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) through a 50:50 joint
venture known as the Lansdowne Road Stadium Development Company.

Overview of this year’s IYMAs
This year sees the IYMAs enters its eighth year and we are very excited to welcome
young people from over sixteen youth services throughout the island of Ireland. We
have young people participating from Youth Work Ireland Member Youth Services,
CDYSB (City of Dublin Youth Services Board) and our strategic partners in Northern
Ireland YANI (Youth Action Northern Ireland).
The IYMAs involves over 340 youth clubs and over 150 projects in communities all
over Ireland. The local youth club, or service, is at the heart of the community
where people come together to be part of something important in their community.
To date over 85,000 young people have taken part and benefited from the IYMAs
and it has grown in each of the 7 years to date.
Each year the programme is launched and rolled out in clubs and projects all over
Ireland, and in partner organisations in Northern Ireland. Each region holds a local
live selection night and chooses an act to represent the region at the National day,
and get a chance to perform in the AVIVA Stadium. All the other regional performers
then form a team around the representing act, and learn a range of new skills such
as lighting, recording, sound engineering, marketing, social media and public
relations. A national recipient is selected at the national event in the Aviva and the
prize includes the professional recording, mastering and launch of an album, which
includes all the team members from the winning region. The National Day offers a
showcase of talent and a range of workshops, access to industry professionals,
opportunities and activities for all.
We are excited to have Ireland’s leading contemporary music college, BIMM Dublin
involved in the national event this year as our educational partners. They will be
providing workshops and panel support to young people who are looking to further
their careers in the creative and musical industries.
Today there will be performances on two stages - the Main Stage featuring 16 acts
and the Leaders Recommended Stage with over 20 acts performing throughout the
day. We would also like to welcome Music Maker Dublin to today’s event who will
be providing our full backline for the day.
So go have fun and have a great day and remember to tweet, post, share and
Facebook the events from today #iymas
