FORGET SOMETHING
My wife cannot enter the United State even as a tourist now since her
request for a permanent visa was accepted. She needs to wait to get the
permanent visa to come to Hawaii and nobody knows how long it takes
according to the official letter from the National Visa Center. Even they
don't know. Therefore I must visit Japan to see her in person.
I could made time to go to Japan to see my wife in the ending of August.
My wife came to Fukuoka airport to pick me up. I was so happy to see
her. We went to dinner with her parents on that day. Next day I realized
one bag I brought from Hawaii was missing. The bag was a big white paper bag to carry chocolate boxes, coffee bags and cookies for souvenirs. I
just thought, "Oh, I forgot the bag in the car my wife drove to pick me up
yesterday." But it wasn't in the car. Then I had to admit I left it at the airport. I said to myself, "Again..." When I went to Japan in February, I left a
box containing chocolate boxes and coffee bags at the train station. Actually I lost a big paper bag that had some souvenirs at Narita airport in Tokyo when I visited Japan last year. I forgot souvenirs three straight times
when visiting Japan to see my wife. There is a reputation, my family and
relatives in Japan started to say, "Koichi forgets something every single
time."
I thought I was sure to put the bag in the car at Fukuoka airport. I was so
shocked as I realized forgetting it because I thought I learned from previous mistakes at the train station and at Narita airport. I guess I didn't.
I said to myself, "I have to accept the reality. I may not find the bag."

Then I called Fukuoka airport and explained
what kind of bag, what was inside and where I
may have left it. One item in the bag is for my
wife from our friend in Hawaii. I felt so bad for
losing the gift. The one who answered the
phone was very calm. After he listened to me,
"I think we have your bag." I was surprised. I
felt I needed to give up on the bag. I cannot
help but say, "Thank you" from the bottom of
my heart. He was very kind and told me how
and where I can pick up the bag.
As a matter of fact, I could find the lost box at
the train station and the bag at Narita Airport. I
also found the bag again because a very kind
person found my lost bag and brought it to the
lost and found office, and the office kept mine.
I just appreciate the unknown and their kind
heart.
I felt their kindness very much. When we feel
blue, we can find somebody's kindness and it
helps a lot although it is in small ways. After
this lost experience I start to think, "I should
appreciate the daily blessings I may ignore." I
need to think to realize how much I am blessed
knowingly and unknowingly. It is easy to say
thank you to a person who did something for
me. There are more people who help me invisibly. As I can appreciate all those, I can understand I am allowed to live in the blessings and
care. I think I can keep mindfulness even amid
great pressure and emotion because I know
Kami-sama, my ancestors, and someone cares
for me all the time.
I need to think to realize how much I am blessed knowingly and unknowingly.

Church Cleanup for the Autumn Grand Service
We started the cleanup after the 7:30 a.m. prayer session on
Sunday October 2, 2011. About 30 members came to clean to
support the church. Thank you very much for showing your appreciation to Kami-sama through the church cleanup. Kami-sama
received our heart of appreciation. Making time and effort to
come to the church made Kami-sama happy.
Short Teachings from
Various Material
-Everyone was born because of many visible and
invisible assistants. Our
life starts with Kamisama's blessings.

Konkokyo Anime, "Konkosama: Tales of Toritsugi Mediation" and Ikigami Konko
Daijin's biographical picture
"Divine Favor Depends Upon Your Own Heart" will be aired on
KIKU TV from 7p.m. to 9p.m.. We can learn about Konko Faith
and get ideas of what kind of person Ikigami Konko Daijin was
through watching those stories.
-We need to plant Konko
Faith in our heart so that
the Faith is able to grow
within each of us.
-We can behave Konkokyo ways in an emergency as teachings seeps
in our body.
-You know what to do
based on faith, but you
don't follow it, it is the
same as not knowing
faith at all. Putting teachings into practice is very
important for us.
-It is very used to having
teeth so that I could ignore the value and forget
to appreciate the teeth. I
may have the same ignorance and forgetting to
my parents who departed from this world.
-We have ancestors' obligation virtue to live now.

Short Teachings from
Various Material
-Can you love all of
Kami's beloved children?
They might be kind to
you. Also mean to you.
They are all Kami's beloved children definitely.
-You said you get bothered by bed wetting of
your child; however, it is
problem if he cannot discharge urine. Appreciation always comes first.
-We easily forget how
Kami-sama supports and
helps us by giving daily
blessings, and just worry
about immediate problems.
-Reforming ourselves is
important for Konko
Faith. Our heart is important to receive divine
blessings.
-Don't flatter yourself.
-My way and Kamisama's way are not always the same. I need to
be sincere and careful to
take Kami-sama's way.
TEACHING FROM KONKOKYO KYOTEN
So Kondo‑san, you are thinking of building a shrine for the late
Shirakami‑san. Leave it to Kami for building the shrine. You should
concentrate on spreading this Faith rapidly.
[Konkokyo Kyoten Gorikai I Teachings of Konko Daijin, Kondo, Fujimori # 74
page 84, Konkokyo Honbu 1987]
I THINK...
Reverend Shirakami is Reverend Kondo's mentor who saved Reverend
Kondo's life and introduced him Konko Faith. I can imagine Reverend
Kondo wanted to return the favor to Reverend Shirakami. So he
started to think of building a shrine for Reverend Shirakami. However,
Konko-sama recommended to think about spreading the Konko Faith
for Kami-sama instead of building the shrine for Reverend Shirakami.
The effort of spreading the Konko Faith makes Kami-sama as well as
Reverend Shirakami happy. Reverend Shirakami established the Konko
Church of Osaka since he wanted to spread the Konko Faith to as
many people as possible. He moved to Osaka, the biggest city from
Okayama city where he lived for long time. He also had a dream to
spread the Konko Faith to Tokyo. Reverend Kondo sent his disciples to
Tokyo to fulfill Reverend Shirakami's wish later.
We sometimes think about only immediate matters, but we also need
to have Kami-sama's perspective that allows us to oversee situations
so that we could understand what we really should do for the future.
As a result we can please Kami-sama and more people, and can make
us happy.
TEACHING OF REV. MASAYUKI KODAMA
Our religious way of life was founded upon a life if sincerity and kindness to oneself; to others; and to Kami-sama. therefore, in order to
understand this Konkokyo way of life, one must live this life of sincerity, kindness, and respect.
The ultimate example and apex of sincerity is Ikigami Konko Daijin
(Founder of Konkokyo).
Ikigami Konko Daijin's wishes and desires are expressed in the 18th
paragraph of Gorikai (Teachings):
-Heart toward to Kamisama should be the same
when we are healthy and
sick.
"Konko Daijin is called Kami;" not only Konko Daijin, but all of you here
are Kami's children. To be a "living kami" means to have Kami born
within you. Konko Daijin is the first to have received the favor of Kami.
All people can receive the divine favor as Konko Daijin."
4
As expressed above Kami-sama wants all, every one, to become Iki-
gami Konko Daijin. This is the Ikigami Konoko Daijin no Toritsugi.
Let us see what would happen is, through the blessings of this Toritsugi
Mediation we can become Ikigami Konko Daijin:
We will have no discontent or dissatisfaction. (A true example)
We can understand the presence of Parent Kami. (A true example)
We can not abstain from praying. (A true example)
We can not abstain from working. (A true example)
We can not abstain from coming to church. (A example)
We can attain well being and happiness while living by living a life of Ikigami Konko Daijin.
As we get to understand this life of Ikigami Konko Daijin, we can see how
easily we can be confused or go astray.
Therefore, we can not refrain from coming to church to receive Toritsugi
Reverend
Masayuki Kodama
(1903-1973)
Founding minister of Konko Mission of Honolulu.
Therefore, we can not refrain from coming to church to receive Toritsugi Mediation and constantly
have our life put back on course of Ikigami Konko Daijin way of life.
Mediation and constantly have our life put back on course of Ikigami
Konko Daijin way of life.
Not only while we are living but even after we become a spirit we must
receive this Toritsugi Mediation so that our spirits can be sincere, kind,
and respectful.
Then we will find activities for salvation for ourselves, salvation for others, and salvation for Kami-sama.
Thus the well being and happiness of our spirits are attained.
We are thus grateful for Kami-sama's finding and guiding our way of life
in this present world and also in the future world, and for His Toritsugi
Mediation.
We are grateful that from this way of life, we create good character,
good health, and plentiful material and money.
So we are gathered here tonight in ceremony expressing our gratefulness.
Furthermore this is a ceremony in which we can further receive the
blessings and live a life of more sincerity, more kindness, and respect.
