VOLVO Pavers PF6000 Series Volvo pavers offer the features you need and expect Our PF6000 Series pavers have ties to the past, promise for the future, and the ability to meet your paving challenges in the here and now. Drawing on the great tradition of Blaw-Knox® pavers and enhancing it with unique new technology, we’re proud to roll out three machines with the features operators need and the productivity and reliability owners appreciate most. In a business where every inch of progress depends on the paver, the PF6000 Series is built with the latest in technology, providing greater productivity, maximum uptime, and a more robust overall design. And when service is required, we’ve made it easier with ground-level access to all key areas. PF6000 Series pavers are the result of diligent research into what contractors need to succeed with today’s mixes and job requirements. We’ve listened to your concerns and acted accordingly, and the result is a lineup of pavers that reflects your everyday needs and our core values of quality, safety, and environmental care. These are the pavers you’ve been waiting for. 2 3 Features with function, benefits for the bottom line Our PF6000 Series pavers combine classic features and new innovations to rise above the competition. Some of the attributes are brand-new to the industry, while others have been Blaw-Knox standards for years. But what matters most is that these are the most reliable and versatile pavers we’ve ever offered, and features like these will show you why: An essential component to a quality pavement is precise material control, which is achieved with our innovative feeding system. Our four-sensor design ensures a smooth and consistent delivery of material to the screed. Enhanced comfort and visibility lead to improved productivity on our spacious and uncluttered operator deck. The seats slide out to give the operator an unencumbered view, and the control panel remains in front of the operator at all times. This panel also rotates and tilts to meet the operator’s need. An integrated, easy-to-read digital display panel allows the operator to monitor a full range of machine functions. The LCD panel can be read in four languages (English, Spanish, German and French) and is also used to retrieve service diagnostic display codes. With multiple independent heater bars in each section, our new screed heating system promotes maximum uptime. If one bar needs to be replaced, the others continue providing heat until you have time for service. On the PF6160 and PF6170, a four-wheel independent hydraulic suspension system equalizes the load on the four front wheels, offering better traction overall. In addition, Volvo incorporates a dedicated hydraulic pump and lets you adjust the torque with a switch on the control panel, so you can keep the wheels from spinning when dealing with loose material or other challenging conditions. The cooling system is composed of an on-demand, hydraulic-driven fan and highcapacity coolers which can be accessed easily from the side of the machine. An optional screen can be installed to prevent debris buildup. The bottom line: Our competitive advantages give you a competitive advantage, too. 4 5 Better tracks mean more uptime Because profitability, performance and reliability are important to the contractor, Volvo engineering has gone above and beyond expectations on the PF6110 model. For starters, we’re using a new long-wearing rubber compound that protects against excessive wear. Automatic hydraulic belt tensioning eliminates the need for manual adjustment. With its longer, wider track providing more surface contact, the PF6110 offers the performance and traction you need on softer bases and steep inclines. The track provides the largest footprint in the industry, offering improved flotation with reduced ground contact pressure. The undercarriage features a tandem-bogie weight distribution system that provides maximum traction and smoother operation when paving. An integrated Blaw-Kote® spray system can be activated while in motion to protect the tracks from material build-up. 6 For a more in-depth look at the Volvo PF6110, see our feature highlights on pages 8 – 9. Wheeled pavers for performance and uptime on commercial projects Our four-wheel independent hydraulic suspension system equalizes the load on all four front wheels, giving the Volvo PF6160 and PF6170 improved traction and stability to keep projects moving on schedule. The Volvo wheeled pavers incorporate a patented level-load suspension design using the two drive wheels and the center of the bogie hydraulic system. This design maintains consistent and even ground contact with the bogie wheels to increase stability and extend the life of the bogie wheels. The PF6170 comes standard with two-wheel Front Wheel Assist (FWA) and can be equipped with an optional industryleading four-wheel FWA. The FWA includes load-dependent torque control to optimize tractive effort and minimize slippage. The torque is automatically adjusted based on the material load in the hopper. From the operator station, the front-wheel assist hydraulic flow can be regulated with a torque-adjusting switch. This lets you match performance to a variety of surface conditions, reducing the chance of stopping. Volvo offers an exclusive front suspension hydraulic system that can also be raised hydraulically to increase ground clearance to facilitate climbing out of mill cuts or loading the paver on a trailer. For a more in-depth look at the Volvo PF6160 and PF6170, see our feature highlights on pages 8 – 9. 7 Meet the PF6000 Series Pavers PF6110 Specific Common Features The longest track in the industry is built with a new wear-resistant rubber compound for long track life and improved flotation. New four-sensor feeder system allows operator greater control over material management. Larger 432,8 mm (17 in) augers let you move more mix through the machine with less energy. Automatic hydraulic track tensioning reduces maintenance requirements. Machine weight shifts smoothly about the tandem-bogie pivot to maintain optimal ground contact in all operating modes. Six pairs of large diameter, oscillating bogies and drive wheels ensure a smooth operation. Dual-segment drive hub make it easier to change tracks when necessary. Heavier, more robust machine offers security and stability in a variety of applications. 8 Hopper lock system keeps hopper wings from drifting while being folded up and locked into place for safe transport or service. Automatic hydraulic chain tensioners keep the conveyors adjusted properly, and clamp-in floor plates reduce maintenance requirements. Open, uncluttered deck space makes it easier for operator to move around and increases visibility for added safety. Secure handrails provide added safety. Volvo-exclusive two-stage power tunnel system can be operated from the paver or the screed, facilitating contained material distribution across the screed for better control. Tunnels are synchronized to retract (can be modified to operate in both directions) in conjunction with the screed. All electrical-box fuses and relays are located in one ground-level-accessible location for convenient serviceability. 30 kW (37.5 kVA) generator is located under deck and provides plenty of power for screed heaters, balloon lights, and other auxiliary applications. Remote clutch handle is easy to reach from ground level for cold-weather starting and engages and disengages easily. Blaw-Kote coating system Hopper lock system 30 kW (37.5 kVA) generator PF6160 and PF6170 Specific Operator seats slide out for clear visibility around the machine. Powerful 153 kW (205 hp) Cummins engine operates at 1,800 rpm for better fuel economy and lower operating costs; offers plenty of power for pushing trucks on all grades. Paving widths up to 7,92 m (26 ft) allows for the paving of a lane and a shoulder. SmokEater system discharges fumes and engine exhaust through a combined exhaust tube. The system includes removable screens to keep debris out. Exhaust stack can be conveniently folded for transport. Speed limiter control allows the operator to electronically set a desired paving speed in low range. The speed can then be adjusted in one foot per minute increments with the simple touch of a switch. Environmentally friendly Blaw-Kote® protectant is used to coat the machine, screed, and the inside of each track to prevent material buildup. Blaw-Kote is mixed directly on the machine and offers a non-hazardous alternative to diesel fuel. Intuitive control panel places all controls within reach of the operator; gauges and warning lights, functional grouping of rocker switches, and a single display and diagnostic panel make it easy to learn and operate. Control panel tilts, swivels, and moves to fit the comfort of the operator. Ground-level serviceability puts all maintenance components within easy reach. Four-wheel independent hydraulic suspension system equalizes the load on all four wheels, improving traction and stability. A PF6170 can be configured as an all-wheel drive paver with the optional four-wheel front-wheel assist to provide greater traction. Front wheel torque adjustment on the PF6170 optimizes tractive effort and minimizes slippage in a variety of surface conditions. Suspension raise system increases front ground clearance to facilitate climbing out of mill cuts or loading on a trailer. New muffler reduces sound levels. 9 The unsung heroes of the paving world Every successful paving project depends on the tandem work of both the paver and the screed. The paver might get all the attention, but it’s the screed that makes the mat. The Omni 318 is a 3,05 m (10 ft), electrically heated, high-production screed with front-mounted power extensions and a paving width capability of 5,56 m (26 ft). The front-mounted extensions being full depth (same depth as the main screed) makes it stable enough for highway construction but versatile enough for commercial applications. The Omni 1000 is a 3 m (9.8 ft), electrically heated, high-density screed with rearmounted power extensions and a paving width capability of 6 m (19 ft 8 in). With addon extensions this screed is able to pave 8 m (26 ft 2 in). The Omni 1000 extensions are also full depth (same depth as the main screed), providing uniform compaction and texture in the mat. Our newest screed is the Ultimat 200, a 3,05 m (10 ft) screed with front-mounted extensions that give you the ultimate in maneuverability around jobsite obstacles. The double extension system extends the narrower width extensions to a full 6,1 m (20 ft) and joins our other screeds in offering the highest standards in paving widths, electric heat, temperature control, and raw performance. An optional 457 mm (18 in) berm is also available. The versatility and ease of operation makes the Ultimat 200 an ideal choice for a contractor. 10 11 Meet the screeds With so much riding on screed performance, Volvo has made every effort to find out just what contractors want, need, and expect from their screeds. The result is a product line with the features you consider most important. Some are new, some are Volvo classics, and all are designed to help you lay down a perfect mat. Ultimat 200 Specific Common Features Single button operates both primary and secondary extensions. Simple hydraulic drive introduces variable frequency control with vibrator amplitude. Additional amplitude variation is accomplished by repositioning eight eccentric weights on the vibrator shafts of the Omni 318 and Ultimat 200. Tool-storage compartments integrated for operator convenience. Unique Volvo double-extension system doubles screed width to a full 6,1 m (20 ft), including heat and vibration. The cross-sectional support structural design of the Ultimat 200 provides in a more uniform and consistent mat. 12 Standard equipment includes power slope, power crown and power extension height adjustments. Electric heat reduces fumes, eliminates diesel burners and delivers more uniform and consistent heat to the screed plates. New efficient heat bars can be serviced easily without removing the screed plate. Three separate bars in each section let you keep working even if one needs to be serviced. Ultimat 200 Omni 318 Omni 1000 Omni 318 and Omni 1000 Specific Thermally insulated screed plate keeps heat on the plate instead of the frame. Power extensions for easy, on-the-go width changes. Screed handrails enhance safety. Control consoles on each end of the main screed provide effortless electrical control of auger / conveyor sensor heights, auger speed override, manual auger /conveyor function overrides, tow point, screed and tunnel extension / retraction, crown and slope, and height of the extendable sections.
