TRAVEL BY EXPRESS BUS IS ON THE
INCREASE
The amount of travel undertaken in Sweden continues to
increase. People travel in order to go shopping, visit
restaurants and nightclubs, enjoy cultural activities and
visit Skansen, Astrid Lindgren’s World, the Ice Hotel in
Jukkasjärvi, Malmö Arena or some of the many other
fantastic attractions that Sweden has to offer. Express bus
is the obvious choice for travellers to all such destinations,
and the number of passengers is increasing all the time.
Travel by bus is a cheaper alternative than travel by train
and plane, you know that you can get to where you are going (bus stations are never closed down!), and it is also a
comfortable way to travel.
AFFLUENT GROUPS TRAVEL BY BUS
Groups with a high level of purchasing power choose to
travel by express bus. By capturing the attention of
passengers during the actual journey, you will increase the
likelihood that they will choose to visit your
particular business when they arrive at their destination.
Express bus has now become an obvious travel
alternative for high income earners.

The part of Swedish tourism that is aimed at Swedish
travellers accounts for a turnover of around 150
billion SEK each year (Source: Swedish Tourism AB)
and provides employment for 160,000 persons annually.
Tourism is a major aspect of the development and vitality
of rural areas and parts of Sweden that don’t have
significant industry and manufacturing, just as it is also
very important for the larger cities and towns that are
attractive travel destinations and that function as vital
hubs throughout the country. Tourist consumption
accounts for a large part of the revenues for businesses in
the hospitality industry’s various sectors, such as
restaurants, hotels, shops, transport companies and
events companies (theatres, concert organisers and sporting events organisers among others), as well as for many
other businesses and organisations. A large
number of the persons that account for the figures in the
statistics travel to and from their various destinations by
bus. It might be interesting for you as an advertiser to
know that these travellers/consumers spend an average of
3,000 SEK per day during their travels.

BUS IN SWEDEN
If you travel by bus in Sweden then you almost certainly
read Bus in Sweden! We collaborate with 250 travel
agencies and bus companies that arrange domestic travel.
The magazine is placed in the seat pocket in front of the
passenger, clearly available to all travellers who choose to
travel by bus in Sweden. Many new customer groups are
now choosing the bus as their preferred means of travel.
The time when the only passengers on a bus were elderly
couples on outings for senior citizens is long gone.
These days, many younger people have discovered the
possibilities that travel by bus provides, and they readily
use the bus as a means of travelling to Sweden’s major
cities and towns in order to go shopping and to keep up
with the latest fashions and trends. Many people also
choose the bus as their means of transport when they are
visiting events of some kind. It could be musicals, sporting
events or concerts involving international artists.
