Conference Location
Registration and check-in will happen at
Deaf Missions located in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
All conference activities Thursday, Friday and
Saturday will take place at First Christian Church
in Council Bluffs, Iowa. FCC is located just minutes
from Deaf Missions. You will receive directions when
you check-in on Thursday afternoon. The location
for Sunday’s conference events will be announced.
You can find the address and directions to Deaf
Missions on the website.
Housing
Attendees are responsible for their own housing.
We would like to recommend choosing one of our
two conference hotels.
The Microtel Inn and Suites in Council Bluffs is
offering a conference rate of $70 plus tax for all
room types. To make reservations, call 712-2562900 or 800-771-7171. You must state you are with
the Deaf Missions Conference. At this time, we do
not have a way to make reservations online with this
hotel.
The SpringHill by Marriott in Council Bluffs is
offering a rate of $89 plus tax. You can call the
hotel directly at 712-256-6500 or you can choose
the link on the Deaf Missions website to make your
reservations online. When calling, ask for the Deaf
Missions group rate.
It is of utmost importance that you make your
reservations at your earliest convenience! Our
room blocks will start being released the middle
of March and/or have the potential to sell out.
At this time, our conference shuttles will only run to
these two hotels.
Roommates: If you are seeking a roommate
for the conference to help offset expenses,
please e-mail the conference coordinator at
[email protected] and your
information will be shared with others who are
also seeking roommates. Deaf Missions will not
assign roommates, but simply assist you in making
connections.
Transportation
Those flying should plan to use Eppley Airfield in
Omaha, NE (15–20 minutes from Deaf Missions).
Deaf Missions and the Council Bluffs Convention and
Visitors Bureau will be providing an airport shuttle
to and from the airport to the conference hotels. It
is your responsibility to contact Deaf Missions prior
to April 1, 2013 with flight times and information
([email protected]).
Deaf Missions will also provide limited shuttle service
from the conference hotels to the conference site
each morning, during dinner time, and for the
evening feature. With this in mind, you may find that
you do not need a rental car.
Accessibility
The featured morning workshops, as well as the
evening activities, will be interpreted for equal
access for hearing and deaf attendees. Afternoon
elective workshops will be presented in the
language of choice of the presenter. Attendees
will choose workshops according to their skill and
comfort level. Elective workshops presented in ASL
will not be voice interpreted for hearing attendees.
Elective workshops presented in spoken English
will be interpreted upon request for deaf attendees.
Sunday will be an ASL immersion day — just as the
name implies, no voice interpreting will be offered. If
you have any low-vision interpreting needs, please
note this on your registration and/or let us know at
your earliest convenience.
Call for Interpreters
For the conference, we will need numerous skilled
interpreters to make the conference accessible
to all. Interpreters are needed for each day of the
conference. If you would like to volunteer for one
workshop or much of the conference, please take a
minute to fill out the online interpreter application
which is part of the online registration system.
Our conference coordinator will work with our
interpreter coordinator to communicate with you
and make appropriate assignments.
Conference interpreters are offered a small discount
to a fully-comped registration, depending on the
quantity of time you are serving. If you choose to
pay the registration fee prior to assignments being
made, a full or partial refund will be offered to you.

Thursday evening through Saturday evening, you
