Who We Work With
Individuals of all abilities can take part in programs at the National Ability
Center, including those with physical, intellectual, disease or mental
health concerns and their friends and family members. Specially designed
equipment and expert staff are available to support individuals, caregivers
and families as they recreate, have fun and achieve their goals.
History
Founded in 1985 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization by
dedicated co-founders Peter Badewitz and Meeche White. Our first
year, we provided adaptive ski lessons to 15 veterans through a grant
from the Department of Veterans Administration.
For more than a decade, the National Ability Center headquarters
were located at various spots at the base of Park City Mountain Resort,
including our current mountain center just below Payday lift.
In 1996, an anonymous donor provided the National Ability Center
with 26 acres of pristine land in the Quinn’s Junction area, where our
offices, equestrian facilities and lodge stand today.
